I am looking for a doghouse to shelter the dog next door. They just moved in and the poor dogs sleeps in the gravel near the driveway. No shelter from the sun or the cold nights. I want to help him. So if anyone has a dog house they are not using please contact me. Thanks. Pet Lover G.
These are new neighbors.....I had to call animal control every week about the previous family! Never fed or gave water to their dog. We ( the neighbors) pitched in and fed and watered their dogs.
Thanks for all the responses. I am not looking for a kennel - they heat up outside. I did place an ad on Craigslist but no luck yet.
Do you live in an area with a Humane Society or SPCA? It is illegal to keep dogs outside without adequate shelter, so I would absolutely report them.

Depending upon the size of the dog, until you find a suitable doghouse, you can use a big sturdy plastic storage bin turned on it's side. The sturdy plastic kind you can't see through. Put a thick towel on the bottom of it like mattress to keep warm & have some cushion.

It will get hot this summer and he needs plenty of water too.

I second the bin idea.. you might check freecycle, craigslist, etc and see if something is reasonable there.
I wonder why the owners are not taking responsibility for their dog?
I have one I'm willing to share but I live in Houston.
How big is the dog? Call local vets and animal shelters. When my large dog died, I had no use for the old cage (sun-damaged and rusted wire door). I didn't feel like dealing with Craigslist, so just donated the cage to my local vet. They said they'd find it a home for sure. Also - many thrift stores all over SA! SA summer coming up - just make sure there are plenty of holes in the bin for a breeze. And something to keep it from blowing over!
