My son who's 4 got 5 shots on thursday for his 4 year check up and for school. He's been fine except that he's real tired these last few days. Yesterday he woke up in the morning at 7:30 (which is normal) but then by 9:30 he told me he was tired and by 10 he was snoring. He slept for 2 hrs and was still in bed by 9 and woke up this morning at 9. Very odd for him. I dont know if its a growth spurt either. I do remember him being slightly tired after he gets a shot but not like this. Wonder if any of you moms out there notice this as well and if it's normal?

I would just recommend making sure that your son eats extra healthy (lots of antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables) for the next week or so and possibly giving him vitamins (if you don't already). Like the last poster said, his body is probably trying to fight off all of the vaccines (which is how vaccines are supposed to work but can take a lot out of a little one). As long as he doesn't have any serious behavior issues or show evidence of severe fever or any other kind of illness, I wouldn't worry about it. He could easily just be going through a growth spurt and it just happened to coincide with the shots.
My son also received 4 shots during his 4 year old check up this week and I have had the same experience with him. I am a little relieved to hear that other children have had the same reaction. I am not sure it is normal to have that reaction but receiving that many shots at a time would probably drain their little bodies of energy. I am sure that he will be back to normal within the next couple of days, if not then I would contact the Doctor if you are still concerned.
My daughter has always slept unusually sound after shots. So much that it concerned me and i now am on an alternative shot schedule for my youngest. I guess the body is fatigued from the shots as it is producing antibodies, i assume that's what it is. With 5 shots, I'm guessing that's a pretty normal response for a little body.
