I have tried to limit drinks to dinner time but she still wakes me to go (not every night but a few x's per week). She doesn't flush but wants to be tucked back in and hasn;t worn a night diaper since age 3. Any advice? I have a hard time getting back to sleep!

What can I do next?

My 3.5 yo gets up and goes herself at night. We have a night-light in the hallway. She has never asked to be tucked back in BUT she has left her bedroom light on and conked out that way. Maybe just talk to her...see if night lights would help along the way and tell her she can tuck herself back in -- it would be a great big help!

if she is waking you to go, first off be glad she's not wetting the bed. my son is 4 and is NO WHERE near ready to be out of pullups. S., does she really need to wake you up? i know mine COULD go potty on his own and go back to bed, if he'd just wake up. short answer - yes, at 4, still peeing at night. the alarm thing i don't really get, because they're not learning anything, their body obviously isn't ready, you're just disrupting their sleep even more. that isn't them being night trained, that's you being alarm trained :)

Is there some reason she needs to wake you up to go? My 4 year old pees sometime during the night, but he gets up and goes on his own. Once in awhile, he'll still have an accident or have some fear or something, so he'll wake us up, but he usually just goes to the bathroom and goes back to bed. If it's the toilet flushing that wakes you, institute a "let it mellow" policy for nighttime and tell her to wait and flush in the morning.

My 4 year old sleeps in a pull up at night and it's usually soaked by morning. He's potty trained during the day w/o accidents. Sorry no advice, but it's normal for them to pee at night.

I put a straw sippy cup filled w/ water in his bed at night - that way he can get a drink of water if he gets thirsty or if he coughs and needs a drink. I sleep w/ water next to my bed also. We live in a very dry climate & it gets uncomfortable in the middle of the night to wake up w/ a dry mouth.

If she is waking you to go, then she is night time trained. You need to figure out if there is a reason why she can't go by herself at night. Could be something really simple, like you have told her to stay in her room at night, there is no night light in the bathroom or something easy. Ask her.

No advice here to give, but I can assure you that mine does still pee at night we are still working on day training here. I can not limit my son's liquid at night because he HAS to drink before bed to take his medication (to help him sleep) but there are many times where he wakes with a dry pull up. Is there any issue with wearing a pull up at night so the sleep is not disturbed? Otherwise I will be interested to see what the other responses are.

Yes my 4 1/2 year old daughter still pees at night. She wears a night time pull up and sometimes makes it to the bathroom or other times just sleeps till morning. Granted she was not day time "potty trained" till 4 years old (started when she was 3 and took us about a year to get it down).

I night trained my two by having them go at their bed time of 8-8:30pm, then I would go and get them up and have them go again once I had the house ready for me to go to sleep at around 10-11pm, then i set my watch for 1:30am and I would get them up again. they then were good till 6-7am, which is when I start the day. it was one wake up a night and no pull ups, no accidents and after about 2 months they asked me not to wake then=m anymore that they would take care of it themselves. i said I thought they were big enoughto do so, so yes we would try it, but the first potty accident and I'd go back to the schedule of waking them up since the accidents are too too much work. We have not had any accidents and my kids were about 2.5 & 3.5 then and are 4 & 5 now. I realize you have a hard time getting back to sleep, but this at least is just being woken up just once and after a few weeks your body also gets transitioned and it isn't too bad. What did you do to get through night time feedings, other than suffer? Those were the worst for me. My kids go right back to bed though so I'm not up but maybe 5 minutes. Maybe this will help you.

We have a night light in the hallway and a night light in the bathroom, plus a potty seat built into the lid of the toilet. At night I just make sure her potty seat is down, and she only wakes me up if she poops and needs help wiping, otherwise she does her own thing and goes back to bed, the only way I know she's been up is I hear the toilet flush.

My boys still have cups of water in their rooms and drink right up until falling asleep. I can't sleep if I'm thirsty, personally. My 4 year old has been sleeping in underwear without accidents for at least 8 months, maybe closer to 10 (since shortly after toilet training during the day, definitely by 3 1/2) and almost never has woken me up at night. Sometimes he wakes up early morning then goes back to sleep. Children's bodies process everything differently and I would not try to limit water too much since she probably needs it and it doesn't seem to be helping. It is annoying, I'm sure, but hopefully won't last too long.
