Ive heard many times that strong wind can trigger an ear infection. Is this true? I am kinda hesitant to bring my son to the park today now because its so windy outside.

What can I do next?

I've never heard that, it can cause ear aches. ear infections are cause by mucus draining back into the ears. J.

Nope - not possible. If it did, my entire city would have ear infections all the time. We frequently have 40 mile an hour winds in the Spring.

(but wind can make ear infections hurt more)

Never heard of it. And wind doesn't cause you to catch a cold...anymore than going outside on a cold day with wet hair will make you sick. Go out and enjoy the beautiful weather!

No. Wind does not cause bacteria to grow in the ear. Buildup of fluid in the ear can be a breeding ground for bacteria. If you have an ear infection, being out in the wind can be very painful, but it cannot cause an infection in the ear or any other part of the body.

No it does not. Bacteria cause ear infrections.

I wouldn't think the wind could do it by itself.
If there's a pollen sensitivity, the wind will blow it, the nose will breathe it, become irritated, start running, then bacteria can breed and nose/sinus/ear stuffiness can happen.
If it's just windy, can your son wear a hat or a hood?
Sometimes when the pollen is high I'll rinse my nose out with a neti pot when I come inside to rinse out the pollen.

Your immune system is what triggers infections, if it's bad then you are prone to any infection, if it's good you have no problem. Enjoy the weather and have fun.

In chinese medicine wind can be the cause of some things, it all depends on what you believe.

all i know is i finally realized if i was in wind with 45 degree or colder,no earmuffs---i ended up with eaache-sinus infection----now i see the same progression with my granddaughter-----well aware of bacteria cuaing infection, but cold wind stirs it all up.plug ears with cotton balls or earmuffs(i got laughed at alot, but stoped being in pain and needing antibiotics...
