I always get this way this time of year. Just in a funk. I am soooo over winter, sick of being stuck in the house, and ready for some fun in the sun! I can almost taste it! I need summer or Im going to lose it!!

What can I do next?

Its going to be 80 here this weekend and I was really hoping for a colder winter. Soon it will 100+ for over 4 months. Yuck. I don't think I would like snow all winter but would like to at least wear long sleeves! =)

YES! The doldrums of March. I know it's not even March yet but I already feel it. Holidays are far behind us, summer is months and months away. I work in school so it is looong haul from pres weekend vacay to spring break. March is just one full, boring (often gray, but not today!) week after another.
I actually have 80 degree weather today. I can't imagine how much more "blah" I would feel in a cold snowy gray state. But even in california this time of year has that "in between" waiting for spring feeling.

Me too.. and our weather has been so weird this year - almost no snow and too warm... it's been like spring mud all season which is absolutely my least favorite time. Mud and children are a disaster... at least in my house. I'm thankful that for the first time ever we are going on a spring break vacation to FL.... I have 6 more weeks to go.

I hate February. I have always hated it. It's lack of vitamin D I think. I don't really mind the cold so much just lack of sunshine. All I want to do is sleep.

Usually, yes. This winter has been so mild, though. We have had lots of sunny, warm(ish) days, and the kids are nearly always playing outside still. I don't know how your weather is, but taking a walk to the park once or twice a week has helped. Just getting outside at all really lifts my mood. Also, try taking vitamins, drinking lots of water, and doing something fun. Ok, call me crazy, but I signed my kids up for swim lessons and after lessons on Thursdays we do family swimming night. It has been wonderful, such a stress-reliever. And since it is winter, the pool at the rec center is not crowded at all. The only part that sucks is the cold walk back to the car! It has been really good for all of us to add something new to the weekly mix, but it doesn't have to be swimming. Maybe bowling, or rollerskating? The other thing that helps is planning a vacation. I have a girls only trip lined up for April, we are road tripping it to Jackson Hole Wyoming, going to go to all the cheesy museums, hang out in saloons, visit all the art galleries and have a wonderful childless time. And we have our annual Hatesgiving celebration this Friday, which is our silly Thanksgiving celebration with our closest friends, where we eat traditional Thanksgiving food and just be silly. Little things like that- fun family time, exercise, random celebrations- are what get me through the winter. I hope you can find something to look forward to :)

We've had a really mild winter here in MA but I'd love to just be able to wake up and head to the beach...certainly not that mild :) I think we'll try to head out to the playground today...maybe some fresh air and sunshine will do this momma world of good...definitely feeling the funk!

Yes. Winter is my least favorite season. It depresses me. We usually plan a vacation for February or March to someplace warm and sunny, but this year we can't :( I'm busy preparing for my spring garden, though, which helps me look forward to warmer days.

Our winter was fantastic, I rarely put that mildly, or excitedly. We usually have about 5 months of inclement weather where its either below freezing, or trudging through snow storm after snow storm. So for the entire two months of Jan and Feb, its been about 40 degrees average and one snow storm, which is now melting quickly into a memory. I don't remember being outside this much in winter here. I LOVE it this year. I do know what you mean about cabin crazy. In that case, I go somewhere else, if I cant I have a cabin crazy party that helps break it up a bit. Start taking some Vit D, tablets or go sun tanning. It does help.

Even though it's been a mild winter in the MW, it's hasn't been great...not warm enough to play outside regularly, but no snow to go sledding either! February is the worst month for me! I have a home daycare, so we are all going a lil stir crazy right now! We play outside every day spring-fall, so winter is tough!

I, too, get in a funk...I hate it...on top of that, I have scoliosis/arthritis in my back and have had multiple surgeries (neck and leg), so my scars always hurt more in the winter (and I'm only 39...can you imagine in 20 yrs the pain I will feel!)

Keeping busy, planning summer vacation and putting up my spring/Easter stuf early helps! We can do this!!! :)

We've had a very mild winter so far this year.
A brief freeze every so often then we bounce right back to the 50's or 60's.
We're expected to hit 73 tomorrow and Friday.
What's great about this time of the year is you can go outside and not be swarmed with a bazillion insects.
The robins have just come back (they left last August) and are starting to build nests.
It's not too hot and not too cold and a light jacket is all you need most of the time.
The ground's too wet and soggy to do much in the garden but I can clear away some dead branches/plants.
You can go outside when ever you want to even if it's cold.
Just 10-15 min of sun on your face and hands can boost your vitamin D a bit and help improve your mood.

I actually like it - this is the time of year I like to work out. I get my work out going, then go outside to cool off for a few minutes - the cold feels good. When I work out in the summer if feels like I just keep sweating all day.

It seems like our life is so busy starting in Sept through the new year, so the down time of days with no plans and down time I look forward to.

Plus, I know spring is coming soon - yay - and we've had such a mild winter I can live with this.

In another 4-6 weeks we probably won't even need our jackets anymore - hang on 'til then :)
