I had leaky nipples from about 7 months with all three of my kiddos. It just means your body is working to get ready for baby.
Hello moms! I am almost 38 weeks pregnant with my second child and this morning I noticed alot of creamy and clear stuff coming from my nipples. I never had this with my first daughter and actually didn't get to breast feed as I didn't produce enough milk. Does this mean labor is near? I was 50% effaced last Thursday and have another appointment on Saturday. I have had alot of period like cramps but no real labor contractions the past few days.
Thank you everyone for your comments. I have an appointment tomorrow so we will see if there have been any changes. I wasn't really asking for advice on breast feeding though and what I should or shouldn't be doing. There are reasons why I was unable to breastfeed my first daughter and are private therefore I didn't share with you. I am going to try again this time around and know about all the support from consultants and support groups along with friends and family and hopefully it will work!

My nipples leaked for beginning around 6 months, but then consistently for the last 4 weeks. It sounds like you are close anyway, but that might not actually be a sign. CONGRATULATIONS!
I just want to echo T.T. The way to increase your milk supply is keep putting the baby at the breast. I didn't know this with my first daughter. I would feed her, change her diapers, everything and she would cry. I had no idea what was going on. I did some research and even though you have just fed them, put them back on. When my son came, I was prepared. The little guy had a VORACIOUS appetite so he was practically attached to my breast the first 6 weeks of life. But after that, he had built up my supply for what he needed and for his growth spurts and life took on a more normal pace. If you can't get a proper latch (i.e. if it's painful), work with a certified lactation consultant (not all of them at the hospitals are, shockingly enough) to help you. It honestly saved me and after a week of working with her and both my kids (none of them came out of me knowing how to latch!), I was able to successfully breastfeed. It's a process but so worth it!! Good luck and I hope your baby comes soon!! Get some rest!!
Sorry, it's not necessarily a sign. I'm also 38 weeks and I've been leaking colostrum for the whole last month (it also didn't happen for me during the first pregnancy). My OB recommended I begin pumping this week to help up my supply before the baby even comes (I struggled with supply problems with my first child, too), and pumping can sometimes trigger labor, so you could try it if you're hoping to speed up the process (although I haven't had any such luck). I hope that you'll be able to breast feed this time around! Good luck!
Your body is getting ready for the baby in its own time...this is just one of many things it does. :) Enjoy your time now, you know what is coming and it is exciting, I know. Relax...spend some extra time with your first child now, and your body will do what it knows to do. Two to Four weeks seems like a long time, but it will be here so soon...even as soon as tomorrow ;)
Congrats and enjoy.
i just want to say that unfortunately docs set you up to fail when it comes to breastfeeding ...with all the moms that have told me they didnt produce enough i now thats a fact. in the past would all your babies have died? NOW that said there are rare instances where a mom doesnt produce enough. A few things you can do to be proactive...if the doc has you supplement supplement by pumping your own milk, so nurse baby and try to pump after. you may not get much but at a week old you shouldnt be getting much anyways. Also if you do give formula just give a tad bit after each feeding. If you cut out a nursing session by giving a filling bottle of formula not only has that baby missed a nursing session but most likely will skip the next one as well. what does that tell your breasts? that those two feedings are not necessary and your body wont make milk during that period. The best thing you can do is find a breastfeeding group nearby or a few moms that have nursed for at least a year. there is a great breastfeeding group at st. alexius hospital and its open to anyone. there is also of course la leche leagues too! you will need support for the first few weeks please get some you wont be disappointed!!! GOOD LUCK!!!
I leaked that from 16 weeks with my first and about 12 weeks with my 2nd. I wish it meant that labor was near. Good luck though. Hope you go soon!
