Does This Kind of Outlet Cover Exist?

I have a surge protector plugged into an outlet that my child has access to. I am looking for an outlet cover that can go over the surge protector plug which, of course, has the big fat cord. All the outlet covers I've seen only accommodate the average plug and cord. I do not need a surge protector cover; that is behind furniture that he can't move, but the plug is accessible and he is a very strong-willed 3 year old.

Edit: I went to BRU today and looked at the ones Sara B. linked to, but they seem to only accommodate the width of regular cords. Did you adapt them to work with surge protector cords, or do they just work with them?

Also, teenmom - my son is very naughty and would touch it if I tell him not to; very strong-willed child. Also, the furniture cannot be moved to cover it because then it will also cover the only vent in that room.

What can I do next?

We have one over the outlet that has our surge protector for the tv. You actually take the outlet cover off, and screw thsi one on, then there is a big cover that snaps over it with an opening on the bottom for the cord to fit through. I will try and find a link to one. My Mom gave them to us when we had our first almost 4 years ago, she got them with my sister who is 8 now so I don't know if they still make them.

**Okay, the link Sara B posted is exactly what we have!

We used covers that were similar to those, and it worked but was a bit difficult to bend the thicker cord to go through the hole at the bottom. What about the kind of plugs that automatically cover the holes after something is unplugged? It wouldn't stop him from unplugging it, but at least he couldn't try to plug it back in.

Can you move the couch to also cover the outlet? Or give him a really stern talking to that he is NEVER to touch the outlet because it is a big huge ouchie? I am so glad I had gentle, sensitive girls. If I even raised my voice their chins would tremble, and they always listened if I gave a stern-talking-to. But my friends tell me I have NO idea what it is like to have a boy, so I really do not have any advice and have not seen the outlet cover you are looking for. How about asking folks at home depot, they might be able to give you the materials to create your own protector, even if it is not exactly what you want. Or hollow out that couch in the back and place it over the outlet and surge protector strip.

It seems to me I had box-like outlet cover and the cords that plugged inside of it only showed the wires exiting. I can't think of the company, but I bought most of that kind of stuff at a place called BuyBuy Baby in MD/VA, so you could look online. I think it is this one from Safety First, but I don't know if it would accomodate a fat cord.

You can also get a new outlet plate where the holes stay closed if no plug is inserted, but I don't know if that would help with a plug half in and half out.
