Organic ones taste much better. If you have a Sprouts store they usually have a sale where they are not much more than Butterball.
Hi Mamas, I am cooking Thanksgiving dinner this year. It has been quite awhile since I've done this. I am wondering what would be the best brand of turkey to get. Or does it even matter? I know the way it's cooked makes a big difference in how moist it it, but is there a certain brand that you recommend over another? Please let me know. Thanks!

I am a Butterball fan. I will gladly pay more for Butterball than some off brand. You get what you pay for.
Unless a brand has something special with it (like butterball injects theirs with butter so you don't have to at home, certain others only use wild turkeys, etc.)... then no.
Turkey farms get bags from LOTS of brands. Same turkeys, same farm, different bags. Slaughter and bag. One farm might have 6 bags from different brands, but they're all the same turkeys.
You mainly want a "young turkey" they have the best meat when cooking... sometimes the real bargain turkeys are old ones, and the meat is harder and not as juicy...
I prefer teh Butterballs. I've tried a few of the cheaper ones and keep going back to Butterball. They are jucier.
The one's that are raised without hormones and antibiotics are the best. They taste so much better. Make sure you brine it first too.
I truly believe so. I love the Butterball turkeys, they are always more flavorful and juicy. I have tried cheaper brands and they are generally dry and not as good. You can get really good prices on the Butterballs too, so just keep an eye on the paper!
Great question. I noticed yesterday in the paper the Butterball brand turkey was .79 cents a pound at a local store and the store brand was .59 cents a pound. Same turkey under the wrapper??!?!
I've never noticed that one brand was any better than another.
I prefer fresh turkey to frozen when I can get it because I hate thawing a huge frozen turkey brick for days in the fridge, but they all cook up the same.
Personally I don't think there a difference when it comes to brand (unless your taking about organic, or ones that are specially raised or fed at a local farm).
I have noticed that fresh turkeys are better than frozen.
