Absolutely not. The TV that we have works perfectly fine.
Although, I guess if you were in the market for a new TV that it would have been a good time to buy because there seemed to be lots of good sales.
Reading the paper this week they stated some absurd number of new televisions that will be purchased to watch the "big" game. Really??? We are still in an economic downturn so why would people plop down money for a new TV just to watch the Superbowl. Maybe I'm too logical...
So did your household purchase a new TV to watch the Superbowl?
I swear the figure was something like 4.5 milllion... I guess those 4.5 million are not Mamapedia users ;-)

A few years ago we were having a big Superbowl party and bought a new TV.
I don't think people buy them for the Superbowl, they have wanted to make the purchase for a while and use the Superbowl as the excuse to pull the trigger.
Heck NO, never would ... Plus we have a monster of a TV as it is 73" do not need anything new anytime soon. Now, if I were looking for a smaller second or third tv like a 30-42 incher this may be the time due to sales, but not just for a game.
YUCK. NO. ...and no, I didn't marry an idiot that is interested in such nonsense, either.
I thought about surprising hubby with a new TV last week. We didn't care about the game much (just loved seeing Pats go down), but this is the best time of the year to get a deal on a TV.
Ultimately, I decided against it... we'll keep waiting for the 27" non-flat screen TV that I bought in 1995 to die before blowing a bunch on a replacement ;)
Nope.... we bought this tv for $20 1 1/2 years ago at our church rummage sale... our other one was giving some problems....
This $20 one is working just fine.... no, it isn't HD or anything.... about 27" ....
We don't have the money for something like that right now...... trying to come up with money for property taxes and what we owe through the IRS......
A couple of years ago stores like Best Buy started charging rather large restocking fees on tv's that were returned the week after the Super Bowl. Seems too many people were "buying" a big screen tv just to watch the game. Haven't heard anything like that happening this year, ... yet!
my hubsand tracked TV prices for a year and a half before he bought one. The superbowl priced TV's are so jacked up that even "on sale" you pay more for them than you would in October.
We don't even have "TV" just streaming, and even if we did, we wouldn't even watch the Superbowl.
LOL!
Kind of like roaster pan sales peaking in Mid-November?
And heart-shaped cake pans in Feb.?
Nah--we didn't need a new O.!
Haha! You'd just have to walk in our house and take a peak at our old 15 inch tube TV. No, we don't make frivolous excuses, to purchase frivolous things.
Ummmmm yeah we did.
But not for the SuperBowl. Last year the Bears played the Packers in a playoff game and since we were watching a 20" tv in our new house we bought a 55" for the game, only to see my Bears lose. :o(
We used our tax return and the tv was on huge sale. And that 20" tv was 25 years old.
Nope we bought a new TV a couple of years ago when Circuit City went out of business, for a great price.
No, but the fact that a lot of people are is good news for the economy .
