I am trying to find out if there is a Portland area Ask-A-Nurse hotline? We moved here from the Kansas City area about a year and a half ago. In KC, there was a local hospital that had a 24-hr Ask A Nurse hotline, I'm wondering if Portland has anything similar? It's a very nice resource on nights when fevers are blazing and the flu is running rampant (this would be one of those nights!)
Thanks so much for your responses. I ended up finding a 24-hour number for my pediatrician. The answering service took some details and about 15 minutes later I got a call from a pediatric nurse at Legacy Emanuel. She was very helpful. So, we're still battling the bug, but my nerves are calmer, and the fever seems to be breaking. Thanks again!

Providence St. Vincent's nurse advice line is for EVERYONE not just plan members.
###-###-#### is the hospital number and you can ask the operator for the advice nurse.
Every pediatrician generally has a way you can contact someone to ask questions 23/7. Usually the docs take turns being on call. Also, many insurance companies offer a nurse hotline.
I knwo I have a hotline through my health insurance...maybe check with yours. OR you could always use the website....webmd.com.
i think you should search about it on google. If that doesnt help then go on WebMD.
I think the St Vincent one is for Providence Health Plan members only. Maybe check w/ your insurance to see if they have one?
I know our pediatricians office has a 24 hour advice line (staffed by nurses from Emmanuel Children's hospital during the "after office" hours, I think)...We go to the Children's Clinic @ Meridian Park hospital and we LOVE every doctor there! I think a lot of pediatricians are offering a service like this now, so you might check with them.
Welcome to Portland!

HI J.
I know that St. Vincent's hospital has an Ask-a- nurse hotline, and I think OHSU has one as well.
Welcome to Portland and try to stay rested yourself!

I am not sure about ask a nurse, but your pediatrition should have a 24hour advice nurse on 7 days a week. If you call your child's dr. it will give you a few options and one of them should be to speak with an advice nurse. If you do not have a pediatrition you could always use on line recources such ask.com. They are usually quick to respond.
