Wordpress.com is very good, and I felt it was more customizable. If you need help with the specifics, let me know.
It's free and it's awesome! I've had one for my son since he was 6 months old and our family/friends love it. I try to update it monthly with photos, milestones, etc. It's SOOOOO user friendly and has a bunch of great additions.
Feel free to check out Chase's website. Good luck!
Hello J. - Because none of my husband our my family lives in Chicago, I created a baby webpage for my son to keep everyone posted on him. It's a VERY easy site for everyone! Check it out - www.babyjellybeans.com

If you are interested in starting a blog, I know a lot of people use Blogger - https://www.blogger.com/start
Hope that helps!
Good luck,

It sounds like what you want to do is start a blog. Blog is short for "web log," or an online journal. You can post your little stories and pictures and such, and people have the abilty to post comments in response.
There are tons of services out there that allow you to do this. And they are free, at least for basic service. You can always upgrade later to premium if you wish, which can give you more storage space for photos, for example. For a basic blog, however, you probably won't even need it.
I have numerous blogs. I have a service called Ping.fm that posts to all of them at the same time. (VERY convenient.) This has given me exposure to several different blog services, and what they have to offer.
All blog sites are a little different. If all you want is a blog, and maybe to join a group or two (like a bulletin board group), there are some good options. I like Blogger (blogspot.com), Live Journal and WordPress the best for this kind of blog. Customizable in looks, with groups, easy to use. Their looks are clean and mature. My personal favorite is Blogger.
If you are looking for more networking and socializing capabilities, you might want to go with a blog service that has more social networking services. I don't care much for MySpace, because it seems to cater to a very young crowd, and their blogs leave a lot to be desired. Facebook has a lot of social networking, but it's also more complicated and a little less user friendly to use. It is more focused on the social networking and less focused on the blogs. Multiply seems to have a lot of social network capabilities, combined with a basic blog, and is very user friendly.
If what you want is a social network like a MySpace page with better blogging abilities, go with Multiply or Facebook. If, on the other hand, you want something more focused on what you write, go with Blogger or WordPress or Live Journal. My personal recomendation would be Blogger. It's easy, has a good reputation, and they've been around a while. I really like their blogs; how they work, what they can do, how it can kind of grow with you as you gain experience. In addition, if you later decide you want to have a Facebook page, MySpace page, or something like that, you can always just add your blog to it as an RSS feed. (That will link your blog to your networking page, so as you post to your blog, it will automatically post to your network page simultaneously.)
If you have further questions, feel free to contact me directly. I'd be happy to help.
I created a website using Microsoft Live. It is free and easy. They provide all the templates for you and explain things step by step for beginners like you and me. If you want an idea of what it might look like you can check mine out at griffincards.com.
Good luck.
Hi J. ,
I've always used Myspace and recently started using Faceook . They are both user friendly and the neat thing about ( someone mentioned as well)as you can hook up with long lost friends or even family . All you need to do is signup(free)and post away pic's and blog's .. Check out my page if you would like . Let me know if you have any help http://www.myspace.com/mommybaggs
A blog sounds like it would be ideal for what you want to do. blogger.com/blogspot.com (they're the same thing) is the best place to start out. I started out there myself and have since evolved into my own domain and website and am using Wordpress these days. Generally, if you haven't had blogging experience before, blogger is really simple to use and hassle-free. If you start wanting more out of your template and other aspects of the blog, then I highly recommend Wordpress as well.
Have fun!
Try blogger.com - it's a google product and it's free.
I personally love facebook. If you want to check out mine and see how it looks go to www.facebook.com and type in the search box E. Micu.
Let me know if yu need any help with it!
I used shutterfly. It's easy. And people who you make members can have different levels of contribution. If you only want them to look at the site and comment or if you want to make them contributers which means they can post pics as well on the site. I love the feature of letting your members download and even order prints from your webpage!! I also have family everywhere and now they get to print pics as they choose. Shutterfly is also partnered with target so you can order pics online and pick them up at your nearest target an hour later!!! GOOD LUCK!!!
I really enjoy my MySpace page (www.myspace.com). I post pictures, videos and blogs about my crazy kids. I keep my profile public so my oldest brother can always look at it without maintaining a page of his own. It's also fun to reconnect with old high school friends!
I use google blogger since it is free all you have to do is set up a gmail account. You go to www.blogger.com, I think it's fairly easy to use and gets the pictures out for family and friends and if you want you can password protect your blog. I've heard of other family webpages in magazines but I don't know much about them. It's a great way to keep family updated, and I love it because it helps me keep my pictures in some sort of order so that when i go back to scrapbook them I can look back and find dates and order of events.
Hey J.,
Go to blogspot.com It's free and very easy to set up. I love it!
B.
I have done one through blogspot and it was easy and everyone loved it.
Shutterfly also has a new feature, i f you have lots of pictures to share, that creates a web collection. You can set it up and use it as a photo album and a blog.
I started a NING site for my whole family to become a part of. It's free and everyone can post pictures and we have a forum for converstaions and we posts events like birthdays and graduation parties and such.
You need a host site, like register.com. I use them for my business website and it works very well. You can build the whole site yourself and for very little cost. I want to say it's only like $12-$15 a month. Check it out! Have fun!!
I suggest either going to www.facebook.com and doing it there, or to www.blogspot.com and doing it there. Either place it's simply a matter of signing up. Facebook gets you more networking stuff (you will find all sorts of randonm classmates who come popping out of the woodwork) whereas blogspot is simply a place for you to type text and have it posted. Livejournal is another blog location you might want to check.
