We are going to visit Denver soon and I wanted to find out the scoop. Does anyone know the best subdivisions, family attractions, restaurants, etc? If you lived there what were the positives and negatives? The areas specifically we are visiting are around Aurora and Highlands Ranch. Are these areas good for families as far as schools, crime, etc? Any advice will be so helpful!

What can I do next?

I grew up in Colorado, southwest Denver to be exact. Aurora isn't really a good place. Lots of crime. Highlands Ranch is a good place. Not a lot to do there though. I kind of took it that you are possibly looking to move there, is that correct? If you are moving, Highlands Ranch is a better place. Actually anywhere really in Littleton is a good place to live. FYI, Highlands Ranch is in Littleton. If you are going to visit, you must go to the mtns. We have beautiful mtns there. Like someone said, Estes Park is a good place to visit. Pikes Peak is a good drive as well. Up on top they have a little shop you can check out. Mtn Evans is awesome. You can't drive to the top anymore but they have a parking lot there and you can hike the rest of the way to the top. Lookout mtn is closer to Golden and that's awesome. If you are into gambling, they have the gambling up in Black Hawk and a little in Central City. That's beautiful country up there. Lots of old cemetaries. I love going and reading headstones. Um, Colorado Springs has the Air Force Academy. Boulder has the Celestial Seasonings Factory. Coors Factory is in Golden. I'm kind of giving this off the top of my head as I think about things so they aren't in any order as far as location. Just kind of spread out. Again, if you are looking to move, anything outside the Denver metroplex will be cheaper. Going a little north is cheaper also. South near Castle Rock is higher. Someone also mentioned the altitude. You can experience high altitude sickness if you don't stay hydrated. Drink lots of water and don't try to take off running somewhere...you will have problems. If I can help ya with anymore information, just let me know. I miss CO so much. Have a GREAT time.

What a great place to live, one day we are moving back there. Highlands Ranch is wonderful. My parents lived there for a while. The schools are good, but large so keep that in mind. Attractions are all around you. In Denver they have a Sixs Flags, Denver Aquarium, great sports facilities located around the downtown area, they also have lots of restaurants there that are wonderful. 16th Street Mall (pedestrian mall) has a lot of great shopping and food. They have great choices for shopping, theatres and museums. really your choices are endless. A good mall to go to in Highlands Ranch is Parkmeadows Mall. I love that mall. Highlands Ranch is a richer area, the crime rate is lower and more family friendly. Avoid Aurora. let me know if you have any other questions. I lived in Fort Collins during college so I frequently went to Denver for the weekend. You can't go wrong moving there, plus all the great mountain views and out door lifestyle can't be beat. Enjoy.

Estes Park! I have family between Denver and Fort Collins. I love it up there! Everytime I go to CO I HAVE to go to Estes Park. The altitude takes a few days to get used to.
