My son is in Kindergarten at a public school in Lewisville. He is further ahead then the other kids in his class and he keeps asking to do harder things. I don't know anything about charter schools, but I see the sign for Vista Academy everyday. I have set up a meeting with them for later this week. If you have any first-hand knowledge of this charter school I would love to hear...good, bad or indifferent. I want my son to continue to want to learn at his own pace and by what they publish on their website, they would be better prepared to do this. Thanks in advance!

I dont have a child enrolled their but I have friends whos children go to that specific one. They can't speak highly enough about it. They love love love it, small student to teacher ratio, great room for growth and acceloration (spelling sorry). The only down fall that I see is that their is no playground or well placed play area.

We have a child in first and one in third. We love this school. The teachers are caring and make learning fun. Before we went to this school I was homeschooling, this school is easier for them in some areas and harder in others. My first grader does have a spelling test of 10 words +3 bonus words. We like that they have a policy of trying not to have homework on Wednesday and the weekends those days are for the family.
They did get rid of the older kids playground because it was older. They still have the younger kids playground and are planing to build another playground soon.

We moved my daughter to Vista Academy of Carrollton and I cannot say enough about how impressed I am with the school. It is a night and day difference. My daughter reads 2 grades above her grade and so they bring in work from the higher grade for her to do. They complete assessments on all children at the beginning of the school year as well as a learning style assessment. They then start where the child is...it's amazing. If you have any questions feel free to contact me. I LOVE THIS SCHOOL!!!

I babysat a girl who went to Vista Academy in Carrollton, and she did really well there. Her mom loved it, she loved it, and they seemed to really challenge the kids appropriately. I would work on homework with her, and by mid-year in kindergarten she was already having spelling tests!
