I can't find any information about these as far as brand reliability, but I really love the look of the stove without the backsplash built in. Can anyone give me any information? Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Sorry if it's confusing. We were going to get a freestanding range, so I was studying Consumer Reports to find a brand. During an online search to find one of their recommended ranges, I came across the slide-in style of gas ranges (not a cooktop only). I really like these stoves because there is nothing behind the burners, so the tile backsplash in the kitchen really shows. However, for all the research I'm doing, I can't find many reviews of any of the brands that make slide-in ranges, so I don't know what brand to get.
Dawn, putting a link would have made things easier! Thanks! http://www.wdcappliances.com/ProductsDetail.php?SKU=FFGS3...

A slide in isn't just "A" brand. They come in lots of brands. What brand are you interested in?
Mine is a Kenmore. It matches all my other Kenmore Elite appliances. It has a smooth glass top cook surface, knobs on the front, and convection conversion. They are like any other range that isn't "built in" (meaning a stove TOP and the oven being a separate appliance altogether). BUT, you do have to have the cabinets made especially for a slide in, BECAUSE you slide it in and it doesn't go up flush to the wall. You have to have a cut out in your countertop. Basically a bridge a few inches wide across the back.
So just google whatever brand you are interested in and add "slide in range" to your search parameters.
:)

ETA: after your SWH-- You could probably have a contractor come in make a bridge to go behind the slide-in. But, there may be a width difference too. I'm not sure on that end of it. I just like the "clean" look of the slide-ins, so when we were building, I picked one out and the cabinet guy just got the serial numbers from all the appliances I bought and built the cabinets to fit them.

This is similar to my stove (more or less, not sure if this is the EXACT same model or not)...
I have been very happy with it. No problems or "issues" with the stove itself. It cooks great. I just don't like cooking. LOL

For any of you who aren't getting what a "slide in" stove is, click here and you will see one installed in a counter. Note the counter top goes behind it... a free standing range has NOTHING but wall there. There is no counter at all. I never noticed that, until I went to buy one.

The heating element is covered so cleanups are easy. Just wipe them up. Or set it to self clean and then wipe up the ashes. I honestly don't use the convection all that much. But the bottom drawer is a warming drawer, not a storage drawer, and that comes in handy.

I think ours is a GE Profile. If you go to a store that carries a large selection of appliances, you'll see lots w/o backsplash. It's a very "modern" way to go, so there are lots of options. See what you like then go home and research. Also ask salespeople - they usually have a good idea of what's what. It's a little bit of a drive for you, but Abt in Glenview is awesome. They carry everything, it's all on the floor, and the salespeople really know their stuff. I'm sure they have an online store too, so you can see which ranges you like. We got everything in our kitchen there.

I like mine. We put ours in after we moved in to the house so we had to order a piece of the counter top and have a contractor install it. It looks fine although there are 2 seams. Our counter is Corian so we were able to match it perfectly. It might be more difficult if you have granite because then it may not flow right although it is really not a very noticeable spot.

I don't quite understand your question. I have a slide in. Currently I have a Jenn Air which replaced a Kenmore. I have a down draft so that limits what I can put in. Actually when I replaced it two years ago Jenn Air was the only manufacture that made down drafts.

Thing is if you have the slide in with the back splash you will need new counter tops because there will be an empty space behind it. Mine sits in a center island.

Nearly any style of range makes a slide in. Like mine is a duel fuel which mean the cook top is gas but the oven is electric. Pick a brand you like, go online and look. They may a regular range just like mine with the back splash.

Can you put a link of what you like in your SWH? I'd love to see what you are talking about!
