Hi My son is allergic to peanuts and shellfish, he is 3 years old. I was hoping to talk with other moms that have food allergy children. Maybe we can learn from each other on how to deal with it and how to keep our children safe.

I was unsure how to add another response to the list, so this is to response to Gloria question on how I found about about the food allergies. My husband and were eating lobster and I cracked open the lobster claw. I juice of the lobster squirted out and hit my son on the arm. Well He welted up. It was not a pretty site. anywhere that he touched became welted. We took him to the allergist and had him tested for all shellfish and while we were at it he tested him for peanuts since I never gave him any thank goodness. I hope that helps. It is pretty scary for me to be a mom with a child so several allergic to these things. I hope this helps you out alittle.

What can I do next?

Both my daughters are a bit lactose intolerant (they {and myself} become extreamly constipated if they have too much cheese or milk), but my youngest is allergic to strawberries. we found out after giving her some strawberry-banana juice and she started getting hives within 5 minutes. my older daughter grew out of her berry allergy (same thing, hives) after a year or two, but i know that it might come back, my husband is severly allergic to strawberries.

Hi C.,
I have a 21 month old daughter and she's allergic to milk, eggs, all tree nuts especially peanuts, and shellfish. Luckily, I know have it all under control and her allergy levels aren't extremely high. Although she's allergic to eggs and milk, she overcome her allergy enough to be able to eat yogurt, cheese, pancakes, etc but she still can't have a glass a milk or eat scrambled eggs. I definitely agree with you about how scary it is to have my daughter go through all of this. Thank goodness her condition has improved tremendously! When I first found out about her allergies she was around 4 months and she was almost allergic to everything! If you need any advice or just need to chit chat let me know...Im available.

Take care and don't worry hopefully his allergies will improve!

my 1 year old daughter is allergic to eggs. she is breastfed and screamed almost every night for her first 5 months no matter what I cut out of my diet. I switched pediatricians and got allergy screening this past month for what I suspected all along. I wish I could go back in time.

Hi C., I have a question for you. How did you come to find out that your son is allergic to peanuts and shellfish? I have a son who will be 3 in February 2007. I don't think my son is allergic to any foods but I hear that allergies to foods can show up later. My son has eaten peanut butter and other foods that have peanuts and he has been fine so far (knock on wood). I haven't given my son shellfish yet. So, I'd like to hear how you discovered that your son was allergic to those foods. The last thing I want is to find out my son is allergic by rushing him to the hospital. Please enlighten me..thanx!

Hi,

I have a 4 y/o son with soy allergies and a 9 y/o son with wheat allergies. I also have a friend with a 9 y/o son with peanut allergies. So I kind of know what you are going through.

Hi,

My son has food allergies but not anaphylatic. check out food allergy kitchen. Where are you located. sometimes there are support groups in the area. Schools should have separate tables for peanut allergy children or a no peanut school.
