I am moving soon to a rental and need to sign up for oil for heat and hot water. I am curious about signing up thru MassEnergy.com to get my oil to save money but I didn't know what oil companies are available. I know they pick one for you but are these oil companies reliable and are the prices really that much cheaper then just signing up with an oil company. Any info on MassEnergy.com would be help. Thank you!

I belonged to it since it was BOCA and still belong - I find the savings well worth the dues. The oil companies they assign are always reputable local companies, having lived in three different locations in the last 17 years with them. Also, you can get a good deal on a service plan if that interests you.

To be honest, we did it and I didn't see that much of a difference in the oil bill - but then again, oil prices were just way down this winter compared to last winter anyway. I probably wouldn't bother doing it again...hopefully you get some other responses too!

Hi A., My husband and I signed up for massenergy last winter. It saved us a 5 cents on every gallon. Not huge savings. We were lucky because the oil company massenergy assigned us to was actually the company we already had an account with which made things easy (we have scott williams oil). My sister who lives near Worcester also participates in massenergy. Her oil company has been very dependable as well. I would recommend massenergy to anyone who's looking to save a little extra cash. Take care, J.

Yes! MassEnergy was a smart move for us. I checked at least half a dozen oil companies' prices compared to our local provider. None of them compared to the prices at MassEnergy. We were signed up through MassEnergy to use Bursaw Gas & Oil out of Acton. We had two service calls, and they were very professional and clean (no dirt, grime left behind). Nice guys. Their service quality was equal to what we were getting before. So clearly MassEnergy is using good, reliable companies because their providers would reflect on the MassEnergy name as well. We saved a lot of money. Just wish we had joined earlier!!!

We have belonged to the Boston Oil Consumers' Alliance (which then became the Mass Energy Consumers' Alliance for years - and through all the vacillations in the market over time, have very much enjoyed the consistent discount over the market rate. It is most definitely worth it. We now live in MetroWest, MA, and have received our oil from a stellar Worcester-based company for many years now. No difference in service or quality - just cheaper! Great MECA newsletters, also!

I joined last winter and found the prices to be significantly better. I did a great deal of research on local oil companies and their "going" prices at the time. I had even called the company MassEnergy set me up with and the difference in price was about $.50 a gallon - worth the $25 a year membership fee. Our oil company has been fantastic with service and emergency assistance too.

Hi A. - Yes, Mass Energy is awesome! We've used them for 3 years and have saved tons of money over our neighbors who haven't used them. In fact, a bunch of our neighbors have switched since we've told them how much we've saved. They picked a local oil company that also has a gas station in Acton on Rt2A, which always has the lowest gas prices around, if you pay cash---it's down the street from Trader Joe's shopping center. Can't recommend it enough. Good luck! - J.

Hi A.
I get my oil from Mass-Energy and have for 5 years now. The company assigned to us is great and we live in worcester. We have saved 10-20 cents a gallon cheaper than anyone else as well. I believe we pay $20 for the membership and is well worth it.
good Luck
Kristina

Hi A.-
We have been using Mass Energy for our oil heat supply for about a year now and have been very satisfied. They did assign us a company (Barbery Coast Oil) and so far they have been great. We have saved a good amount and would definitely recommend using Mass Energy. Good luck!
