Does Anyone Else Work for Bank of America and Have Some Insight?

My husband has been unemployed since March 1st, and thankfully just started his NEW JOB today!!! ;) We are beyond grateful for the Lord's provision!!

He will be working in the corporate office of Bank of America (in the Short Sale side of things). We have heard many good things about the company throughout his interview process, and feel good about it... However, he's a little guarded and cautious, because his last experience was such a bad one (hostile working environment, leaders without integrity, worked so hard above and beyond with no advancement, empty promises on position and salary increases, etc)... So as grateful as we are, my husband told me yesterday that he's feeling like he should be hesitant to be super excited... In case it's all too good to be true.

Do you or someone you know well work for Bank of America? We've heard it's a great company with amazing benefits... Has this been your experience?

Thanks for your advice. :)

I have a good friend who works for B of A. He works in IT. Yes, the benefits are outstanding. It is a relatively stressful job though, and he survived several rounds of layoffs while many of his co-workers weren't so lucky. He has had opportunities for advancement in both position and salary. Sometimes he has to travel internationally and he works some pretty long hours.

In my former life, I was a federal law enforcement officer. My husband is a fed. We have both found B of A to be fairly easy to work with while investigating financial crimes. This is a good sign. It means that the company is organized and isn't hiding fraud or unethical behavior like Washington Mutual or Countrywide did.

If your husband has a good supervisor, that is key. Congrats to your husband on his new job!!! You both must be so relieved. I think it is safe to say that it is more than okay for both of you to be excited :-)

My husband is a manager in the home loan dept. for 2 years now. He is paid well, is respected, and we have wonderful benefits. I've seen better upper-management at other places he's worked at, but we are happy and thriving. :)

I do not have any insight on working for BOA but we purchased our home on a short sale and while it was a blessing it was a very stressful process.

congrats!

My friend works for BOA and loves it. He left for greener pastures and was only gone about 4 months and went back. They welcomed him back at the same rate of pay and benefits. I'd say that's pretty damn good.

I worked for BofA from 2001 - 2003 and it was great some days, and horrible others. We had 2 or 3 rounds of layoffs, which I was able make it through. They had great benefits and I worked with some great people. I was very active in employee incentives within my department and actually ran a few of them by myself. But there was a lot of favortism between upper management and employees and if you got of the bad side of any of them, watch out. We had a floor meeting with about 100-125 employees and the big head honcho of the department actually told me to shut my mouth in front of the entire department. Then the next day he made a big deal of "applogizing" to me and told me to make sure I told everyone that he appologized to me. Needless to say I quickly started interviewing elsewhere and moved over to Wells Fargo, which was a great place to work until I decided to relocate to a different state.
Every department is different and so are the people that work there, so I wish him better luck than I had :)

I have a good friend that retired from BofA a few years ago, she has a great retirement, she gave them 20 years and was proud to work there.

Our jobs are what WE make of them. Attitude is key.

My neighbor is in management at BOA and has been there for many years, he has great pay and benefits and seems to enjoy his job. Two acquaintances we know (husband and wife) both have worked for BOA for 5+ years and they have told me they have excellent benefits.
