I've been having symptoms that I felt could have been either PMS or early pregnancy symptoms, and since my period was 3 days late as of today, I decided to take a test. Normally I buy the EPT brand, but was shocked at how expensive it was at Walgreens, so I went with the Walgreens version that only had one test in the box. I took it and saw a dark horizontal line, and a very, very faint vertical line. I've heard that even if it's faint, it means positive and it shows that on an example in the picture, but I still can't believe it. I had to walk out of the room and walk back in to see if that was what I was really seeing. Has anyone had a faint line and NOT been pregnant????
Well, Jane is right. I will have to change my username to sweetchaoswith4! I took the Clearblue test tonight and the word pregnant showed up on the screen. Wow, 4 kids! I'm in shock right now and feeling a bit overwhelmed. I told my husband and he's surprisingly calm about it...I don't even want to tell my family or DH's family. I know they will be surprised and not all of them will be happy about it. I'm not looking forward to hearing "you're crazy!", but I know I will. Thanks all!

Yay, congrats!!! Every faint line for me has been a +. I've never heard of a false + hpt.
ETA: I agree to just get a dollar store test--I never buy other kinds anymore--I tend to keep a supply of dollar store ones on hand, just in case.

I took 7 tests to prove to myself I wasn't crazy. So, off to Walgreens you go.
ETA: and YES, take the dollar store tests - those are perfect - I found out about my second pregnancy for just a buck! Well seven bucks......=)
Bless your heart. Honey, you're preggars. Start pregnancy vitamins with folic acid today! The folic acid helps prevent neural tube defects like spina bifida and some forms of cleft palates, but must be started VERY early in pregnancy. The pharmacist will tell you which ones are best.

Almost 11 months ago to the day I posted the same exact question....Guess what? We have an 11 week old precious baby boy now. False negatives are common-false positives are incredibly rare!
I've heard that it's VERY rare but yes, I had that happen to me on two different occasions. One of those occasions was a Doctors office urine test. When they actually did the ultrasound (the very first vaginal one the same day I got the positive test) is when they realized that I was NOT at all preggo. That 2nd time I did end up starting my period a day or two after. Again, I think it's very rare so my guess is that you are indeed preggo.

Yes, recently! I was late and had to preg tests that had that very faint pos. line, they were different brands but it was so freaky. My period showed up two weeks later and was really long, but I was stressed. My hubby has had a vasectomy so I was just blown away at the thought of another. So I say wait a couple days and take another, by then the line should be darker and you should know for sure. I always believed even a faint line was a positive until my recent experience. Good luck hope it goes however you are hoping it will!
Nope. I'm a huge freak about taking pregnancy tests and I always knew I was pregnant almost immediately after conception. I always took the test days or a week before my period was late and all the times I've been pg, the line has been faint (except with my daughter!). I would probably go buy another and retest just because thats the way I am....but I'd be willing to bet your faint positive is, in fact, a positive. Congrats!
