Doctors That Are Friendly Towards a Alternate Vaccine Schedule

I am interested in only giving my 11 month old single vaccines from here on out and also doing them on a different schedule (not giving him the rest until after 2). My Ped said she would support me however she said she will not order them as they are to expensive. My ped said the vaccines would be about $400 a vile and I would have to buy the entire thing because no other patients in that office would want to use it. Do any of you know of any Vaccine Freindly Doctors in North Phoenix (or anywhere near Phoenix) that may do something like this on a regular basis?

What can I do next?

Hi K.!

I recently posted a related topic on mamasource last weekend regarding alternative vaccination schedules. My son is 10 mo old and has received all the scheduled vaccinations to-date, but I am planning on stopping vaccinations until he's 2 and even then, only allowing one at a time. I've been told by an educated friend that they can't break down the MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella) into single-dose shots and that's typically given at the one-year well-check. I'm thinking that waiting until 2 years old is not going to be a big deal, but I have yet to bring this up with my son's pediatrician.

Altho I don't have much info to share with you about a pediatrician who will support your requests, I am beginning to search for a new one as well. Monday my son woke up with some swelling on his neck and that drew the line for me. I DO NOT want him to be on antibiotics unless LAST RESORT, so instead of contacting traditional medical professionals (i.e., his ped.), I called the SCNM (SW College of Naturopathic Medicine) and got a same-day appt in their medical center in S Scottsdale (NE corner of McDowell & Hayden). They spent over an hour with us and took a full history, including what my son and I ate (I breastfeed), what I think might be going on, any recent changes, etc. All questions I wish my son's ped would ask and never does... They're students being supervised by a doctor (and yes, the doc did see my son, too) and together they all made a diagnosis and sent us for bloodwork to confirm it. In the meantime, they prescribed herbs and vitamins from their medicinery to help his immune system fight off the virus.

I was very pleased with the treatment we received and the carefulness of the students and doctor. My son woke up the next day in better health and the day after, perfect health. The student doctor checks in with me daily and returns my calls personally. I can't say enough positve things about this experience! So, altho it's a long drive for both of us (I'm in N Phx, too), it might be worth it to utilize SCNM for pediatrics.

I am also in the midst of finding a new peditrician. I want one who is a NMD (Naturopathic MD) that can do both unconventional and conventional treatments.

Please let me know what you find and I will forward my info to you as well.

This may not 100% answer your question, but at least it's a little more info that might help. :)

Also, since we both have sons the same age, live in N Phx, and share some of the same interests regarding our children, contact me if you would like to meet up sometime and have a playdate with the little tikes!

I don't have an answer to give you, sorry, but I wanted to contact you since you're my age and have a baby around same age as mine (I have identical twin girls 10 1/2 mo old). I also live in N Phx (actually it's Cave Creek on our mailing address but considered N Phx. Dove Valley Ranch to be exact).
Are you a SAHM or do you work? I'm looking for moms to don stuff with during the day so write me back if you're interested. Good luck with finding what you need with the vaccine deal.

I actually don't know of any, but I would be interested in a doctor like that too in that area. I am 7 mos preg, so I don't need it quite yet. Perhaps look for a naturopath.

And I have no personal experience with this group, but someone told me that Dr. Burke:

was open to not doing alternate things with vaccines. I don't know exactly what that means, and she is in north scottsdale.

Dr. Mitra, also of Pediatrix, will respect your choice and will work with you to slow down the schedule. I was just in the office today with my 2 year old, and we're expecting another in Dec so I asked him about it. We also have a 3 year old with autism, that's why I have big concerns about it. I do not believe that vaccines caused my son's autism (although there are many parents out there who would disagree with me), however I will be overly cautious when the new baby comes. I believe there is no harm in at least slowing down the shots and it only makes sense when I listen to parents and do my own research that says that too many of those chemicals in shots given at one time could possibly be harmful in one way or another. Whatever your choice, Dr. Mitra will respect you and will spend lots of time answering all of your questions. Best of luck to you.
