I just moved to Media, PA area and I am looking for Pediatrician for my 4 year boy. I heard a lot of good words about the First Kids and I found they had an office in Media. I would like to know which doctor from this office would you recommend from your experience. Also, does this office offer an onsite blood test or I have to go the outside lab to take the test? Thank you very much for your help.

What can I do next?

Hi H.,

We go to Kids First in the Roxborough section of Philly. So far so good! They have four or five different doctors, and we have the choice to see the same one for her well visits, or to rotate. All the doctor's at the Roxborough practice are very nice and good with the kids. They run more or less on time for well visits and they've been able to squeeze us in a couple times when my daughter was sick. Overall, we like the practice quite a bit.

I am assuming the Media office runs similarly. At the Roxborough office, they draw blood and process hemoglobin in the office. I think they send other tests out, but I think they would draw the blood in the office. (Not sure if you about from the vein draws, we haven't gotten there yet.)

Good luck!

I take my 4 month old to Kids First in Broomall and Dr. Kleiman and Dr. Teachey are AWESOME!! They go to all of the offices, you just have to call and ask when they will be on which office. I really like Kids First and would definitely reccommend them.

Hu H.,

I'm a recent transplant to this area as well and my husband and I take our 1 year old to Kids First in Media. Their afterhours response is excellent, and the overall care has been great. Just know that the doctors rotate through their three Delaware County offices. So while your child wil be assigned to a specific doctor, they may see others in the practice. We are assigned to Dr. Teachey, and we like her. We have also had great experiences with Dr. Rubin. She is ver gentle and listens to all of your concerns. We had a serious issue with our daughter that put her in the ER. Dr Rubin was the last pediatrician to see her, and even though she talked to the ER doc and the on call nurse, she called me directly at home to hear the details from me. So, in a nutshell, we like all the docs, but we love Dr. Rubin! The only exception is Dr. Miller. Avoid her if possible. She is gruff and terse with her patients and parents of her patients. She has made my daughter cry unnecessarily several times. I will change appointments if I know they are with Dr. Miller. But she is by far an anomoly in that practice.
