That is all I want to know. No opinions on their demands, where they pee, who they pee with. Just a simple question, do you think Occupy is affiliated with a political party? Yes or no?

I don't think they are. I think they are a bunch of angry Americans.

What do you all think, yes or no?

I do. Mostly at least. Just like I do the Tea Party, mostly at least.

And I wish they'd drop the 99% nonsense...they do NOT represent me and I am NOT in the top 1% of the country by far.

I support the right to free speech, but not what I am seeing on TV and what I am hearing from some people who have gone to these. It does not mean all of them and it does not mean all people are there are bad, I am NOT saying that. There are other ways to voice an opinion though.

We had a debate on this on FB a week or so ago and the one guy who was for Occupy was a Dem and blamed everything on Bush. Sorry but I'm not a Bush basher, I actually love him. I think they are just not making enough money and they want that to change. Sorry but that wont change if you dont go look for a job.

I think that Occupy protests are attended by both parties, but mostly the MIDDLE of both parties. Not the extreme right wing, or extreme left wing.

My dad is a hard core Republican. and he is out there every day fighting along side me.

Injustice has no political party.

Education is the way to look at this.

I no longer see myself as a hard core Liberal.

I no longer see myself as a Democrat.

I now see myself as a human. who has been hurt by a system that was suppose to be there to protect my best interests.

But instead they gave me a choice. Live or die. Knowing full well, if I lived I would forever be strapped to them...paying them back for saving my life.

When you get out there, with the people you hear the anger. You see they are hurting. You get the hostel first response's from them...Because their very value has been chipped at now for years.
they only thing human left for them to do is defend themselves. and even just Questioning why we are out there is an attack when you have been beaten down for so long.

My dad and his republican friends join us...because they know my story. Because they understand being a live should not be considered only LUCK of the drawn. It should not be given and taken as they see fit.

There is not Political Party big enough to hold the title for this movement.

Here is a a video of our March Last Friday.

A Ten year old home school kiddo made this as a project.

I am at the end. And I speak the truth in what this movement means. As do all the others who stand untied to defeat those who have tried to take over the human power of survival.

this is only the beginning of an amazing Revolution.

We need every one to understand Humanity for ALL should come before The wealth and Concern of the PEOPLE inside the mega Corporations. We need to remember Corporations are people...Because they are run by people. Set up to make money for those at the top. They have never cared about anyone but their own bankers and bottom lines.

The Masses that are forming are peaceful masses.

They are being invaded by PAID people that are to go in there and stir up trouble.

When you have people trying to make a point that they are being disfranchised and silence by the Police. The very same Police that they are trying to protect.

Our Police forces have turned into Private military forces...because even the men and women who fight for our country feel that we have lost our voice's.

this footage shows the crowd moments before they opened fire.

they shot people going into help someone that had been hit. They shot those people with pellet bombs. We are unarmed. and not bored.

hhhmmmm....I think it is funded by George Soros as a deflection for things going on on The Hill...it's distracting the news media from the "Fast and Furious", it's distracting the news media from Solyndra...so people's focus is not on The Hill...where things are being decided about our lives.

However, I do think it's a bunch of ANGRY Americans too who feel their voice is not being heard by our corrupt "representatives"...most are left-leaning so in SOME ways, it is affiliated with the Left - not Democrats - but Liberals...I will say that I have seen people from all parties there...so while the majority may be left-leaning...I think there are bunch of angry Americans.

Although in some interviews that were conducted, some people didn't even know what they were there for - so for those that want their voices heard - it hurts them.

No... like you said, they are angry and want change. I know people from both parties who are part of the Occupy Movement.

Mommy B- they aren't asking for money. They are asking for change (not like dimes and quarters, but a difference in government).

Edit: Mommy B, I don't think you understand at all what these people want.
"Remember when teachers, public employees, NPR and PBS crashed the stock market, wiped out half of our 401Ks, took trillions in taxpayer funded bail outs, spilled oil in the Gulf of Mexico, gave themselves billions in bonuses, and paid no taxes? Yea... me neither"

The 99% want the top 1% to pay more in taxes. Several other countries do, which somewhat makes sense. Our President and his administration cuddle up to the Wall Street Fat Cat and bail them out ALWAYS. Most tea party supporters were not for such bailouts, and neither were the 99%. They gave some money out to Democrat supporters, only to give some back as political donations. Our government did NOTHING to help the Oil Spill. Absolutely nothing. Where were our government paid employees and inspectors when this site was being drilled? Our government is getting way to big for their own pants and need a reality check. They would rather focus on reelection campaigns than focus on matters that truly effect the 99% of Americans that work very hard to make it, just to fall at their knees.

Mommy B- You obviously are not too familiar with other countries. They have it really good over there. People pay a percentage of what they make. I am Republican and am not against wealthy. They are against businesses, yes. The ones getting bailed out by the government. The top 1% making decisions that affect the other 99%. They just want a say in what goes on and what is going to effect their every day, like health care and job security. Why do certain government officials, no matter how long the serve or how little they do, get a huge set income for life? Certain things that do not make sense are what pisses them off. Look into it.

I think they align more with Democratic ideals than Republican ones, but that may be because I usually identify with and vote for Democrats and I identify and support the Occupy movement. So the connection may just be in my head.

That said, neither party seems to be responding to the movement (well other than the media outlets slamming it, which happen to align themselves with the GOP) just yet in a noticeable way. Elizabeth Warren, the current Democratic front runner against Scott B. for next year's senate election, recently made some statements supporting the Occupy movement but other than that and some lip service from Romney, all I've heard are some GOP slams.

No, they are not affiliated with either party. By definition, they are representing the 99% of Americans who have statistically not experienced an increase in personal wealth in the past 30 years (vs. the top 1% of Americans, whose wealth has more than doubled). That 99% of people spans across the whole political spectrum.

The coolest thing? These two guys are great friends, and have been for years!

I can't comment any further because I don't know anyone else directly involved.

(And I can't resist adding just a bit...those obtuse enough to pigeonhole the WIDE variety of people who are questioning the status quo in this country, as crazy hippy liberals, they might just have a rude awakening. Or very soon, wake up and find themselves identifying with the 99%, which IS where most are. I think most would just "prefer" to identify with the cake makers, rather than the cake crumb eaters. It's neater that way, you know!)

EDIT: after seeing some vids and reading other responses, it has become more thought provoking.... It could very well be the beginning of a revolution I suppose, if it continues. Unfortunately I have a job and dont have time to OCCUPY anything right now. My SIL did lose a job that she was at for 24 years last month, she wants to OCCUPY now too. So there is a method to the madness for those that are currently afflicted. I hope it has a positive outcome when it's all said and done.

Well. All the major news networks have reported on it neutrally but one "FAIR AND BALANCED" one which has been making fun of the protesters, calling them names, and has accused the "movement" of being "every left wing gripe being thrown in a blender and whined about" (How's that for professional, non biased, neutral reporting?) This is the same news station by the way that lauded the Tea Party for being "What America is made of; Grass Roots Protesters" and praised their anger.

So I think it's safe to say it's fairly left leaning and more on the Democrat side than Republican. I mean, most of the Republicans don't like them, and call them angry (unlike cheery people like Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, and all those light spirits in the cheery Tea Party), so I'm guessing it's more Democrat-ish..I heard their statement read, and I find it logical, and I'm a Democrat. Here it is, for anyone who hasn't heard it.

Yes, I think that most of the people who are attending the Occupy movements are more aligned with the Democratic party, which is interesting considering that Pres Obama has received more contributions from Wall Street than any other president in history.

I've said it before and I'll say it again that the overall message "get business out of government" is bipartisan, and both the Occupiers and the Tea Partiers share that message. The surrounding issues, however, is where it all goes haywire and the deep ideological divisions emerge.

God forbid someone look at the other side of the coin. I think someone said that the people that were doing the occupy thing was people who made bad choices and are there of their own accord. I have to severely disagree.

My mom didn't choose for the company she worked for, for 20 years to shut down because record profits weren't enough.

She didn't choose to get Breast Cancer while she was both looking for a job and going to school, and have no health insurance at the time.

She didn't choose to be a 55 year old woman whom no one will hire.

She did however pay her taxes and has for the past 40 years without (until now) ever taking a dime. So how is she using YOUR money to pay for these things? Isn't she just using the money SHE paid into the system for 40 years?

See the other side of the coin.

It's kind of hard for it to have any political affiliation when corporate sponsorship of all political parties is one of the things they are protesting against.
Political parties will take notice if and only if they think they can garner any voter support
It would be WONDERFUL if Occupy could get some leaders/candidates of their own on ballots because there are enough angry voters to give existing parties a run for their money.

I have to say I am one to work work work and pay my way and take my lumps when they come. The Occupy movement doesn't seem to have a single voice, or agenda. I do support them in that I agree many (not all) corporations have acted without honor and have the sense of entitlement the Occupy movement is accused of. Many goverment officials act this way also. The coruption is so vast that we've become desensitized to it. The Bailout was ridiculous with how it was handled. I'm wondering if we should have let several of the Banks and AIG fall. It would have been hell and harder the less people have and I don't want that, but I'm wondering if we are settting ourselves (economy) up for an even bigger fall.
Interesting take Cheryl O. this sure has been the story of the day.

From what I have seen, I do believe the protesters have time because there is currently only 1 job available for every 4 that are unemployed. What else do they have to do? Many of them are highly educated, people like librarians and people with 2 post graduate degrees. They represent every party and every strata of society. I have seen some who are actually quite wealthy members of the 1% who are there because they believe the corruption and injustices that have caused the widening extremes of wealth and poverty must be dealt with. I do believe they are there to represent and speak out for the disenfranchised and disillusioned. Some are even members of the tea party. These are people with a cause, not a party.

However, it has become obvious that one party tends to be less sympathetic or even fair-minded about the occupiers message.

In my mind, it makes no sense to choose sides. Justice is not a conservative or a liberal issue. It is a human issue. We all belong to that party. Who in their right mind would argue against justice unless they are the ones who actually desire an unfair advantage?

These are difficult times in which we seem to have forgotten that, "United we stand. Divided we fall." We need to get honest. We need to listen to each other. We need understanding and unity, not class wars.

The one flaw I see in the argument of the protestors is that they point the finger at the 1% and call them greedy. I believe greed is a big part of the problem, for sure. But, I also believe that much of the 99% were vulnerable to being cheated by the 1% because of widespread greed. Perhaps the 1% are a bit more clever or determined in their greed, but their advertisements are designed to pique the greed in us all. Greed makes us week and vulnerable. But, greed is far too common and has been accepted as 'normal'. It is time we grew up and got real about how greed polarizes and disables us all. Only infants and toddlers are expected to be completely selfish and still be considered cute and lovable!!

My message is not intended to point a finger at any group or party. It always takes 2 to tango. I don't blame either the wealthy or the poor. My message is simply a call for honesty and genuine humanity. I only belong to the human party and I consider all humanity to be my family. If injustice is protected, disaster awaits us all.

What virtues are our children learning in all this? We, as mothers, have the opportunity to teach our children to choose sides or to be real problem solvers and unifiers. It is likely that we, as mothers, have the greatest position to change the direction of our society.

I don't believe so. I think it effects us all in different ways, regardless of what party we belong to. People are hurt, frustrated, angry, and feel betrayed by our country and what it is supposed to stand for and signify. To me, though, I worry about those in the streets, and the many children that are with their parents. It isn't safe.

Some people are really their for a reason/purpose, others have no clue why they are there. They need a person in charge. Sometimes I wish we had people alive now like Martin Luther King Jr, and Gandhi to show us how it can be done.
