:) Both of my kids fell asleep many, many nights listening to M. sing "M. and Bobby McGee" and "Mercedes Benz" Even if you can't sing, you still can't screw up Janis!
All I ever do is sing and i'm no singer but it's a tone that babies love I have done this and don't even notice it anymore I probably do it in public.Would you stare at me or tell me something if you heard me do this in public just curious i'm not loud by any means but I hate just tallking to my babies so mama carries her own tunes when enteracting with my babies.
I'll continue to do what I do to make baby happy

This reminds me of a time when my youngest was a newborn, and my oldest was 3, and we were at the store. Baby began to get fussy, and I just needed to finish a transaction, so I asked Oldest to sing to her sister. She began singing, as sweet as could be, and I marveled at how darling my two little girls were - big sister singing, baby sister smiling and kicking her feet. Awww! And THEN I listened to what Big Sister was singing: "I'm the first one, and I'm the best one! You'll always be the stinky baby, and I'll always be the big sister! People will always love you because you're little and cute, but they'll always love me 'cause I'm pretty and smart! I'm the first one, and I'm the best one!"
I just about died laughing then, and every time I think of it, it makes me laugh. Of course, we have teased Big Sister many times over the years about it, and to this day, when Little Sister needs a laugh, she'll ask Big Sister to sing to her. So funny. Anyway, yes, my babies loved to be sung to!
I think it's great. People should sing more often, good voice or not. Sing away.
Yes...babies love a good (or even mediocre) tune. They're very forgiving creatures....until they're about 9! LOL
Sing your heart out to your babies, no matter what people think! (Just don't sing too loud if you're off key, as a favor to those with perfect or near perfect pitch!)
I sang to my babies all the time. One has a fabulous ear and sings in choir and occasionally is a soloist. The other sings in choir, though he doesn't quite have his brother's ear (or mine).
Singing to your babies is wonderful and helps them in many ways. Play music for them in your home - including classical music. Peter and the Wolf is great for children!
When they get older, DO talk to them so that they can learn to pronounce words.
Enjoy singing!

Yes, I do sing, a lot, and badly. When they were babies and young ones they LOVED it. But even as they passed they Eye Rolling Phase I kept on singing.
Now, all teenagers, when I wake them up and sing "RISE and SHINE and give God your Glory, Glory...." they groan. However not as much as when I launch into the Led Zep songs on my Ipod. I suppose it IS annoying, but I also know without a doubt when they are parents themselves, or after I'm gone they will joke about it together, remember it fondly, and MAYBE even continue on the tradition!
:)
I sang all the time when mine were young. I made up a song for each child. I miss those days!!
Enjoy it while you can. I wish now I had written down those songs.
Good Luck!
Blessings!

I think it's great that you sing to your kids! I love to sing. I'm too shy to do it in public, but I sing in the car, and to my kids all the time.
I was singing in the grocery store to my son this morning. No one stared at me, they just smiled or looked away. It makes him happy and calm when he starts to get stir crazy in the cart, or doing whatever were doing. I hardly notice I do it anymore.
So no I wouldn't stare at you :)
I always sang to my babies and grandbabies and for their own self defense they would fall asleep.
I'd stare in wonder and amazement. Babies cry when I sing! :(
I always sang to my son... He's now ten , and at night, I sing him to sleep...It's just our way... music and singing are some of the things that make life fun..
Shoot, I sang nonstop BEFORE I had babies in the house!
My BFF jokes that I know a song for every occasion. It's probably true.
I sing to my daughter every night before bed, I sing my baby boy to sleep too. I have different songs for each of my kids, and I also sing different words to popular songs to make them about the kids. "I'm sexy and I know it" became "I'm stinky and I know it" about the baby. My house is like living in a musical production.
I wouldn't tell you to stop if you were singing to a baby. However...if you were just singing out loud, then maybe. This lady at the gym used to get on the treadmill, hook up her iPod and belt out the tunes, no joke, she was loud! It was the oddest thing. She had an okay voice, but I'm not sure what she was about, possibly just making herself happy, but yeah, a few people politely asked her to stop.
