yes the white shows everything. I hate my white cabinets and wish I could come up with a solution for them.
My kitchen is black and white.
I hope you can come up with something fun to do
if so how hard are they to keep clean??? we have a '50's house with wood cabinets so i painted the top ones a fun orange then i couldn't decide if i wanted to paint the bottoms orange also....i did and now it's it like an orange threw up in my kitchen! i wanted the bottom a glossy white but am afraid they will always look dirty and show every nick.
thanks.

Yes, we live on a small farm and I love our old farm house. Our kitchen has white painted cabinets and they have held up very well and stay quite clean. I'm a clean freak and it bothers me if the house isn't spotless. When we moved in 8 years ago the cabinets were very chipped up, so we hired professionals (I don't remember who) to repaint them. They used some sort of paint from Kelley Paints that was supposed to be chip-resistant, and it really is. I've touched it up twice in 8 years and it looks great. I clean them with Clorox wipes and they stay looking super clean. If you want white cabinets, I'd go for it, but ask around at paint stores and find out what the best chip-resistant paint to use is. Have fun creating your new look!
When I moved into my house, the kitchen cabinets were such a dark brown and shiny finish...we painted them white and I LOVE them! It's not hard to keep them clean. We ended up spray paining the insides white as well...all came out great...that was back in 2000 and they still look great.
Mine are off-white. If you use good quality paint, they are easy to wipe off. I do have a couple of nicks that get on my nerves, but I'd be able to see them no matter what color the paint. Since you'll have the paint on hand, you can always do periodic touch-ups. Good luck!
The key is to make sure you use an oil based paint, not a latex paint. Just be warned - it smells really bad! But they are the ones that are the most durable and and wipe off easiest. You also want to use a pretty good quality paint - Sherman Williams does a mid grade 220 that is very good. I used the color alabaster and it turned out really nice! Matches the crown molding in my house...I used someone who painted all of my cabinets for I think around $500....including paint. If you want to contact him, just let me know ____@____.com

I have to tell you I love my white cabinets, but yes, they show dirt alot if I dont stay after them! I have little ones with sticky little fingers, so I'm allllllways scrubbing them! :)

I have white cabinets (oil based) and I hate them. They always look dirty.
