I also have the canon rebel t3 and love it! My dgtr is a cheerleader and I can finally get those cool shots of jumps and tumbling I could never get with a traditional digital camera. It is so easy to use and I'm very proud of the photos...worth the cost!

We have a nice Canon and a nice Panasonic Lumix. The Canon takes amazing scenery shots and is truly a great and sturdy camera, but if you are taking photos of younger children who move around a lot, the Lumix is perfect. It has an extremely fast shutter-speed, so you can take clear pictures while the kids are on the move (the Canons have quite a slow shutter-speed, in general). I absolutely LOVE it. If you have older kids, though, the Canon might be a good choice. The quality of camera is a bit better, and I think it will hold up longer over time.

You might look into spending just a little more and getting a DSLR camera. They are a bit on the bulky side but they take amazing pictures. My hubby and I did come conparisons and we have decided to go with the Nikon D3100 but Canon does sell an equivelant to it, EOS I think.

Many years ago, when I went to Italy, I took my father's Nikon and the Canon around. I just really loved the Canon, and got my own film SLR and had it for years. I hated the idea of changing cameras for any reason, but eventually I did......but to a Canon DSLR. The lenses are superior, the cameras are great quality, and I really love how they made the lenses all compatible with other Canons. I had a nice little stock of wide angles, zoom lenses, fixed lenses, polarizers, filters, all kinds of little toys from my film camera, which took years to accumulate. I'm happy that all those toys work perfectly with my digital now.

Love ours we have a dslr and also a point in shoot. The point in shoot lives in my diaper bag so I have a camera when we are out no matter what.

Love my Canon! I used to have a Canon film SLR and made the jump to a dSLR a few years back. They're both good quality, reliable and very sturdy cameras.

Good luck with your choice. And have fun with your new toy!

I don't have this particular camera but I've had several Canons both film and digital, and in my opinion, you can't go wrong with a Canon. Enjoy your camera.

My husband and I are on our third Canon Powershot (we upgrade periodically) and have also gotten them for my parents and my sister-in-law. We love them! My only complaint with our current model (the SD1300 IS) is that it does take a long time to shoot, so I do miss some shots because of that, but that hasn't been a problem with any of the others we've bought. Overall, the picture quality is great!

My husbands Cannon is 800 dollars and professional quality. Mine is also a Cannon for 250 and I'm not real excited about my camera. It's okay. It takes too long to shoot and I miss a lot because of the delay. It also has way too many options for me. I don't understand most of the choices to be made and really just want to point and click.

I have a small Canon (Powershot A650 IS) and love it. It has a photo and video setting (as well as other things, like manual, landscape, kids/pets, fireworks, etc. -- I almost never use anything but the automatic settings), so I use one camera for both pictures and videos, which I really enjoy. It goes up to 12Mp (but I usually have it set at 5Mp, which is more than good enough for 4x6 photos, and it allows you to zoom in on the picture after it's already taken, and still be good quality when it's printed). My sister has a similar one (not *quite* as good as mine), and she uses it when she wants to take a small camera and not have her bulky one take up so much space or be so heavy (like on a hike), but she doesn't like it as well as her full-size camera with a DSLR (?) lens, though she is pickier about pictures than I am. Seeing pictures side by side, I can tell the difference, but I still don't want to change, because I'm extremely satisfied with what I have.
