Do These Colors Go Together?

I am having such a hard time with my daughters room. I have so many paint samples on the wall I am going to have to re-prime the whole room lol.
So I think what we have all decided on was to do the lower half of her walls in "grape fizz" chalkboard paint (http://www.rustoleum.com/CBGProduct.asp?pid=168)
and the upper part of her walls in a mint green
(http://www.glidden.com/color/color-visualizer.do#path=col...)
We would put a "chair rail" in between the colors and we're *playing around* with the idea of (not set in stone) painting lime green polka dots on the mint green part of the wall.
I did put the lime green and mint next to each other and I like the way they look, just not set on all three of those colors going well or matching. The lime green and purple match part of the fabric of her curtains.
Thanks for your input!
Just so you guys get the whole picture..heres the link to her curtains. =)

ADDED: Do you also think I should make her bedding the same exact fabric as teh curtains or should I get one of the colors in it to pull it together?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone! I am thinking purple on the bottom and lime green on top, and I want to hand paint (lightly) a few of the same flowers, in the same colors on the lime green wall. Not a lot of them though. I think the polka dots would be too busy too, as well as the bedding being the same (it was suggested to me). I want it to look a little funky and modern. i didn't realize when I bought the curtains that they were going to be the focus, but I like them so it works lol. She doesn't (and wont) have a lot of furniture for a while. She's a climber so just her bed and a play kitchen, so a lot of the purple will show, but we have some decorations for the top part that wall (frames and stuff). I also love the idea of the magnetic paint! I found that at home depot the other day, and am putting it on her closet, along with dry erase paint (for when she gets a little older). This is my main project for the year, and I really appreciate the help you guys have given me!!!

It's the mint green that is throwing you off. I am sure the lime green and purple go well together. Is there another color in the fabric that you could pull? Make the chair rail the same color as the door frames and base boards. I never was a fan of matchy, matchy curtains and bedding. Pull another color from the bedding for the curtains.

It is awesome you are putting so much love and effort into this project. If you intend her to sleep in this bedroom, I think keeping things simple would be better that busy. The curtains are cute but very busy. With that in mind, I would just go with a toned down wall of the purple and green. The trick would be making certain the depth or weight of the purple and the green are in the same family. You don't want to go too light or too dark with either then the lighter color would pop.

Keep the bedding solid or go with a printed fitted sheets, flat sheets and pillow cases with a solid bedspread or comforter. This way when you decide to do something different you only have to change the sheet colors or patterns, or curtain colors and patterns.

I would love to see pictures of the finished product. My boys room is navy blue and my bedroom is chocolate brown while our office is chocolate brown, red and taupe. So I'm no stranger to color. You have inspired me to do something amazing with my apartment. Maybe I'll tackle a room in the kitchen with a pop of color. :-)

I too think the lime green and purple is better together than the mint green. Sounds fun! Mixing and matching is fun, I think the bedding should complement but not be the exact same as the curtains. And consider using a magnetized paint under the dots, would make it easy to display artwork and photos!

I think I would skip the polka dots. The curtains are pretty "busy". And something you may not have thought about, but that does make a difference in the overall feel of the room... is that you aren't going to have solid blocks of color on every wall. There will be furniture there too!

My daughter's entire room (all 4 walls) are violet (dark purplish pink, lol) but it is not overwhelming, because so much of the walls are hidden by furniture (bed with posts, dresser w/mirror, tall dresser, closet doors which are white, window with blinds that are white, computer cabinet, and then shelves with stuff on them, and pegs to hang hats and jackets, etc...). So think about what "stuff" is going to be covering that wall space, too. It won't look nearly as "blank" as you might think.

I can see that purple and lime green, two bold colors, going well together. The problem with the mint is that it's a "dusty" pastel. I get not wanting to make the room psychedelic, but the mint green isn't the best light shade to accomplish that. Maybe take the lime green you're doing dots with and have it lightened several shades. The place you buy the paint should have a computer program to help you work this out.

I'm big on the bright and bold colors because we did my daughter's room in bright pink and purple to match a set of sheets she received for her birthday. I also love the general combination of purple and green for a little girl's room. However after looking at the curtains I'm wondering how the mint green will look. I think the grape fizz if beautiful and will look good with the lime green polka dots but I'm torn with the mint green on the walls. I would probably do the lime green on the walls and pink polka dots. I think the idea is beautiful though and I'm sure it will look even more so when it's finished.
