Do Any of You Plan on Sending Your Kid(s) to Peter Pan Pre-school on Briarcliff?

My son has been enrolled at Peter Pan pre-school on Briarcliff (SE Side of Bolingbrook) for the last year and a half and I LOVE the school. The problem is that we drop our kids off at a in-home daycare provider and my son will be the only one attending Peter Pan come September. Because of this, our provider doesn't feel it's "worth" her time to gather all the other kids she takes care of so that she can drop off and pick up my son.

My daughter will be one month shy of 3 come Sept. and my plan was to send her there too (she's potty trained already). Well, since our daycare provider isn't interested anymore, I know have to find someone who would be willing to pick up my son (and maybe my daughter) and bring him/them to Peter Pan and return them.

I'm really ticked off at her decision, but am stuck. We drop off the kids at 5:30am and pick them up by 4:30 on most days. We don't know of any other in-home daycare provider who would be willng to accept the kids so early AND who would be willing to bring the kids to school.

She's been our provider for the last 4 years and even tho I'm probably reacting way to soon but it may be time to find someone else.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

So What Happened?

Upon giving notice, our daycare provider was shocked to find that we were planning on going elsewhere. After a good long chat and letting her know why were leaving, she has decided to take both kids to pre-school and has agreed to fix the other issues we saw as troublesome.

So, in the end, we have decided to stick with her afterall and everyone is happy.

Thanks everyone!

I'm with Mommy D - I think you're over-reacting a little. It is difficult and a disruption to get everyone loaded up and unloaded both there and back to take only one child to a class/camp. It would not be possible for her to do that with 5 different children going to 5 different classes. What she does for one parent, she needs to be willing to do for all of the parents. If she only has your kids all day, that is another story

As a home day care provider myself, I agree with the other 2 moms. I have at least 2 in a program before considering loading up all 5 kids for transportation. Think fairness to the other families as well considering it affects the other kids in how their day is spent. I'd stay with the home day care you are in, having been there 4 years and liking it there otherwise. Most CENTERS are not open at 5:30am, let alone home day cares so it looks like you found a good fit for your family (plus a full 11 hour day is a long day, centers are often open 12 hours total and home day cares 10-11 hours a day). Many home day care providers also do not transport kids at all. On days I have 6, transportation is not even an option, as it is not an option for many who will take as many as 8 kids. So considering all that, I'd stay with the home day care you are in. My first thought too was to see if there is another Peter Pan family close by who could transport your kids for you. Best wishes!

Seeing your "what happened" it sounds tricky. Just FYI, the home day care ratios DO allow for more than one infant. Do you maybe have your standards book stashed somewhere to refresh your memory by chance? Ratios for one provider are 8 kids total under the age of 12. No more than 5 under the age of 5 and no more than three under 24 months OR no more than 6 under five years and no more than 2 under 30 months. Hope this helps...

Sorry to hear about your situation, is your child the only one from the daycare that will be attending Peter Pan? If so I understand your providers concern. It is very hard to gather kids and then in 2 hours later have to load everyone up again. It is just a change in everyone's schedule... anywhoo maybe there is a mom that you can arrange to do p/u and drop off if it is that important that your son attend. If you really enjoy your provider of 4 years I would not switch. Good Luck ;D

There is an agency in Joliet called Child Care Resource Referral (CCRR). They can provide you with a listings of home providers in your area. This agency is for residents of Will County. There is also an agency for Dupage COunty in Glen Ellyn, the YWCA Child Care Resource and Referral. The phone number is 630/790-8137. The number for Will county is 815/741-1179. Hope this helps.
