So What Happened?

The Dr thinks it's Anxiety??? I am a christian woman and dont really want to believe that the dizziness is because of anxiety. Blood work was fine and he did a few reflex test and Checked out my Eyes ears and nose and said that he doesnt really think its a brain tumor and refuses to send me to get an MRI.
Anxiety?????? Hummmm

V.,

I have a 6 1/2 month old and I started getting dizzy about a month after my daughter was born. I was first told I had BPV. Then I had pressure in my head and tingling down to my fingers. I had a CT scan and MRI and every blood test imaginable. Everything came back normal, thank goodness. My doctor said she had never heard of anything like that postpartum. I started to pay close attention to when I started to get dizzy and what went along with it. Turns out I had Postpartum Anxeity/Panic disorder. I started to read a lot about postpardum depression and all of my symptoms were in the book. I have been on Meds for 2 months and it has taken away all of my symptoms. There should be a questionaire your OB can give you. I wish someone would have given me the test 5 months ago and then I wouldn't have had to stress over what was worng with me. Just something else you might want to look into since postpartum depression can happen anytime in the first year. Good Luck!

Whenever I get dizzy, I can always think back to realize, I haven't had enough to drink or enough protein. Either one of those things gives it to me. Good luck! Your body is still sdjusting from all the pregnancy maybe breastmilk hormoes. If you are still breasfeeding, I don't think it is a good idea to go on a big diet... just take care of yourself -- Anxiety doesn't always mean you are unsure about the future or stressed - it is part of being a mom. God bless!

Did your doctor check into whether you might be experiencing BPS? (Benign positional syndrome). It's an inner ear thing where you actually have floaters in your ear that bang against your ear wall or ear drum now and then and it causes sporadic dizziness. It's not dangerous, just uncomfortable until it clears up. You can check it out online and read about the simple test they do to determine if that's what you have.

Chances are "it's not a tumah". Brain tumors are very rare. And, dizziness would not be your only symptom. I have dealt w/ dizziness on and off for close to 20 years. Diet makes a big difference iron and protein should help-alot. Good luck

You took the time to go to the doctors they say its from your diet, do the research on tumors in the brain, better yet stop dieting for a week see if it gets any better

I think worry becomes the mainstay for any mom - esp. about our health! Try not to think of the whole brain tumor thing. I was once told by a doctor that if it was one, you'd feel worse and worse very quickly.
I'm sure it's from dieting. The best thing is to NOT diet for just a bit and get all regular again. WHEN YOU FEEL BETTER, then chose a good, nutritious way to lose weight. Just staying away from sugar and extra breads (pasta & rice at dinner!) will help you drop that weight pretty quick. Don't do anything silly! You just had a baby. It's ok.

are you getting enough protien? Several years ago I was dizzy too and turned out I am slightly hypoglycmic and need to make sure I eat enough protien and don't go too long with out eating something. Try not to freak out too much (I know easier said than done), wait till the test results are back. That should tell you and the Dr. what the root of the problem is. Freaking out will just make things worse, try some relaxation techniques. And good luck!

Hi V.,

I wouldn't worry its probably not a brain tumor, you would have headaches and throwing up with it. If the doctor mentioned your diet, you might want to evaluate it. I used to get dizzy going on totally fat free programs. I'm on weight watchers now and have lost 20 lbs without any odd side effects.
You may also have low blood sugar, if I don't eat for long intervals I get dizzy.

V., I am a family nutritional coach. If you would like some free advice i would be happy to share with you. I cna't offer anything here as there are too many unanswered questions.

If you want to know how diet affects you, let's chat.

PS with a 5 month old baby...there is no way you should be dieting. You need all your strength for the baby. If you are breastfeeding STOP the diet now.

I would listen to the docs an worry more about your health than your weight. It is normal to have some baby weight and you should give yourself at least a year to lose it, not by dieting, but just watching what you eat and working out. If you are still breastfeeding I would not even think of dieting. Just try to take care of yourself and listen to the docs.

Dear V.,
Yeah it’s probably the diet. Try a product like Smart water or Zipfizz and you may be able to limit the dizziness right away. (they are like gateraid with no calories) Then you need to eat small amounts of food every 2 or 3 hours to stabilize your blood sugar. Eat about 2oz. of protein each time and balance that with a ½ cup of carbs like oatmeal, potato, or rice. Avoid sugar and wheat products. Eat about 5 times a day and include lots of vegetables with your meals. If you are not too dizzy try walking for about an hour. That will help stabilize your blood sugar also and help you loose weight as well. If you try these things for about a week and still are having the dizziness problems then I would seek more medical help. One can feel pretty lousy from low blood sugar caused by dieting alone. So don’t panic just yet. I hope you feel better soon.
