This is for all you crafty mamas:
I'm co-hosting a baby shower and the mama-to-be wants these customized invitations I can't find anywhere. I was thinking of making them but have no idea where to start. I've gone to the crafts stores in my area but can't find everything I need. The invitation has pink giraffes, giraffe print and zebra print???
I know there has to be some way to design an invitation online. I just don't know where to start. Are there specific websites or do I need to buy a program? Obviously I've never done this before.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What can I do next?

Wow...demanding momzilla!!!! I think it's ok for her to have a theme or desire something specific. However, if you are cohosting you need to do what's easiest for you.....I would start online to get some ideas....Parents.com...for starters on getting ideas.

I just went to a baby shower a few weeks ago where the invites were home-made. Very very cute--animal themed also.

A pair of craft scissors (that make wavy cuts) are your best friend. :)

What these invites looked like was this:
1) cardstock, same size as the envelope
2) slightly smaller piece of solid (different colored) paper with the details of the shower printed by computer in cute script, glued to the cardstock backing
3) patterned 1 inch trim across the top and bottom (this was a zebra stripe piece of paper cut with the craft scissors).
4) hole punch (2 holes punched one inch apart at the top of the invite)
5) 7 inch length of tan raffia, tied thru the hole punches into a bow, at the top of the invite.
I can't remember for sure, but I think there were also stamped (like with a stamp pad) hoof prints across part of the invite.

The outside envelope (just matching colored envelopes purchased at Micheal's) had baby wild animal stickers sealing the flap.

It was all very cute. The colors were chocolate brown and teal blue, for a little boy. Cute cute cute!

I did my own thank you tags that I attached to goody bags for my daughter's ladybug-themed 1st b-day party. I just saved (or stole, depending how you look at it LOL) a pic of a sample ladybug tag from a website that sold them. I won't lie it was a pain in the butt for me to put the tag in a word doc and erase the sample name and put my daughter's name and age in.
But they did come out beautifully. I also used the wavy scissors to cut them out and a hole punch to tie the ribbon through. I think that would be too difficult though for a full on invitation. I know they sell custom templates on websites like etsy where you can order your specific customized tags or invitations and they will email t to you and you just print it out on some card stock or quality paper.
I don't know if you have a party city store where you live but they do custom invitations also.

Find someone that has a Cricut. They probably have a cartridge that cuts animals - Zoobaloo has animals - G is for Giraffe. :-)
Then you can cut those out and stick 'em on whatever you want the rest of the invite to look like.
Don't get hot and bothered about the invitation. You've got enough to worry about. The mom-to-be shouldn't have any say about the invitation, if you ask me. Doing a shower is a HUGE gift. You don't need more stress than you've already taken on.

I'm not sure if you have one by you but Hobby Lobby sells pink animal print stuff :-) I did pink zebra print for a sweet 16. Also, I have a cricut machine that is my best friend when it comes to animals. My mom made super cute baby animal invitations using her cricut machine for my SIL babyshower. Does anyone you know own a cricut machine? You can use any paper that you like with that :-) Good luck!
