Ladies -
My MIL is in town, and bless her heart, she's undertaking to make home made baby food for our little one. He's 9 months old now, and has been eating largely jarred food, and transitioning to table foods. He's happy to eat egg yolks, potatoes, most vegetables, most fruit, rice, meatballs, cheese, etc, so long as its been mashed.
Even so, she's intent on making him food. The way I figure, no harm in having some granny made food. Any good sites you could recommend with recipes for our "junior" / stage 3 eater?
Thanks a bunch.
He can eat all the same stuff, but instead of finely mashing it, smush normal table food up so it's still on the chunky side, so he gets used to using his gums/teeth to chew. Start giving him finger foods too, softer stuff, like sweet potato fries and meatballs cut into 4ths.
My daughter LOVED avocado and applesause. Weird combo, I know, but somany people said their kids liked it so I tried it. Not too bad. I got a lot of recipies from wholesomebabyfood.com. They have recipies and tips for making baby food for all stages.
Since your baby is already eating most foods, maybe she could make his "favorite" meal for the whole family and give you a break.
Just an idea. ;) enjoy her visit.

Soup is always good. Just purée it to his taste. Steamed veggies and fruits, rice pudding. You could also just make homemade versions of the jarred food he likes.
I also heard of "Super Baby Foods" by Ruth Yaron as of an excellent resource. Haven't tried it myself yet, though. Thanks for your question. I'm also in search for good baby food recipes.

Get "Super Baby foods" book. It's the best!
I think my kids were not eating baby food any more at that age, but just torn or cut up table food. In any case, she can just mash fruits and veggies up, but like Rachel said, give it a clumpy consistency so he gets used to texture and chewing.

i agree with the other answers - www.wholesomebabyfood.com was the only website i needed! i learned everything i needed to know for making all of our twin's babyfood.
I'm in no way an avid cook, but I thought making their food was lots of fun, way easier than i expected and piece of mind to know every ingredient they were eating... plus it was super easy to gradually transition to table food by just not blending things up as much.
Definitely no harm in granny made food :)
I second the "Wholesomebabyfood.com" website.
In the fall, you can bake a lot of pumpkin and squash when it's in season.
Toss a yam/sweet potato in the oven (poke holes around it like you do a regular potato) and bake until sugar oozes out of the holes (about an hour).
Your MIL will have plenty of other recipes I bet. My MIL did. She's the one who taught me to bake the pumpkins in the fall.
