Does anyone know of a divorce attorney who's not expensive? People divorce all of the time on all economic levels...I just can't imagine all of them paying $2000 retainer fees! As unfortunate as it may have been, please share your contact and cost if you were able to find a reasonable divorce attorney. Children are involved so child support definitely needed. Thanks all!

it's possible to get divorced for free if you know the right people. :) (that's how a lot of low-income people probably get divorced...) you could try going to a church for assistance, too. there is paperwork online you can fill out yourself...depends on how complicated the divorce is. check the government website in texas. good luck!

Call the local courthouse and inquire if you can petition the court on your own for a divorce. You might contact SMU and inquire if their law program still has the free legal counsel. Good luck.

You might want to just go to the Law Library in the county you are filing, they have the forms right there plus usually a librarian that may also help. Sometimes they can even email you the forms. Now if you know it's going to be a difficult divorce you better get an attorney, but if both parties are wanting then I'd just go that route.
