I have ben divorced and a single mom now for almost a year. I used to work full time nights until about 2 weeks ago(now going on my 3rd) well I had a family friend watching my kids well he does not want to do it anymore and now I cannot find a replacment. I cannot afford $600 a week($2400 a month) that would be almos all of my income. So now i am out of wok and living off of my savings. I have a 7year old and a 29month old. Does anybody have any suggestions. Also my ex name is still on the mortgage. I cannot aford to refinance. what kind of problems can I run into if I keep him on. I have an DVI right now that keeps him from coming to the house now. I was told that I neede to refinance and get his name off ASAP. But I cannot afford it. Also if I do keep him on and he does not live here can I force him to pau his part of the mortgage? I am afraid that I might loose my house. I am an emotional wreck. I can't sleep all I do is eat. I have gained 30lbs this year.. My oldest has emotional behavioral problems(poss bi-polar) and is being placed in a residential home in november due to unpridictable violence toward the 29month old. I do not know what to do anymore. any help is appreciated. thank you.

How about selling the house, would this be an option ? Maybe working the night shif and just having someone sleep over with the kids? Any family member close by?I feel your pain especially having to put your older one away. Best of luck just keep telling yourself it will get better

hi,im not sure why you pay so much i childcare i have 3 and it would cost me max 1400.00 a month thats half of what you say you were paying.. as for the house im not sure while in your divorce proceedings he wasnt taken off the house by him signing a quit claim deed meaning he surrounders the house and you are soley responsible for it if he doesnt live their then to my understandings no he doesnt have to give you $$ however if you lose your house and his name is still on the mortgage then his credit is shot too.have you looked into support resources for you surley having worked in a hospital you know of someone that can direct you to some support group that may give you further options. good luck

As far as the house is concerned, you cannot force him to pay the mortgage. If you keep it in his name and he doesn't pay, the mortgage will go into default and eventually down the road towards foreclosure...whether or not the property is forclosed on depends on several different things, and the time frame varies with the company and state you live in. I would suggest you refinance but if you cannot afford that and are worried he will not make the payments (which happens frequently with divorces as he will see it as why does he have to pay for your place to live and for wherever he is now), I suggest you and he try to sell the property and go somewhere where you can afford to make rent/mortgage payments on your own...
as far as daycare, I am not sure why your daycare is costing you 600/week, you may want to look into other options as far as that is concerned also....

Hi C. - There's a non-profit agency in FL called Family Life Resources 800-553-8621(www.flrministry.org). This agency provides financial counseling & can probably help you with re-financing your mortgage as well as getting your ex-husband's name off. Regarding daycare you should shop around more b/c $600 is outrageous. You didn't mention what part of town you live in, but I would start by checking local churches in your area for childcare. Best of luck & hang in there - your kids need you!
