Just FYI, strollers have to be folded up on Disney buses, and they aren't allowed in the lines for the rides.
Hey mommas- I need a little bit of help. We are going to Disney World for the first time (even for my husband and me). We will be taking a 6 1/2 and recently 4 year old. I'm sure I will need a stroller b/c my kids are really tiny and their little legs just wear out. What is the best stroller to take? We are staying at a resort and will be using the shuttles to get to the parks each day, if that makes any difference. Can't wait to hear from you all! TIA
Edit: Do the park strollers have storage?

When we were planning our WDW vacation a few years ago, a friend recommended Mousesavers to us. If you don't already know about her, you might want to head on over to her website and check it out. She has information on EVERYTHING concerning Disney and suggestions for making the most out of your visit without breaking the bank.
In her most recent newsletter there was information about stroller rental for a discount. If I am remembering correctly, the company delivered the stroller to you (single/double) for FREE and rates were something like $25 for double for first day and $9 for each day after.
Here's the link: www.mousesavers.com/wdw.html
Hope this helps...Have a great trip!

All the parks rent strollers (single or double). If you don't want to purchase one then I would rent them there. ALL the Disney parks have stroller parking (usually next to the rides and restaurants) and Disney parks have attendants in those areas.
You can also pick up two inexpensive umbrella strollers when you get here. The stores sell them when you enter any of the Disney parks and/or the stores outside the parks do too (novelty shops, Wal-Mart and Target).
I live here and still bring the stroller on occasion (when I know we are going to be there late). They are great for holding drinks and other stuff you may need during the day (sunscreen, jackets, snacks etc.). In the many trips we have made to the parks I have never had anything missing or stolen from my stroller (there are cameras everywhere in the park). The only thing is that they get top heavy and the drinks have spilled or fallen out.
We are going to Disney in May. I am taking our double side by side stroller. It is a Combi that literally folds in half. It only weighs 13 pounds and has a strap that can go on your shoulder or across your body. My husband is 6'2 and I am 5'1 & neither of us have a hard time carrying it. Since it is so compact it slides easily under a table or can stand up and not take up hardly any room. I have had this for 7 years & 3 kids have used it regularly. I have even had friends borrow it when they go out of town.
The first time we went to Disney World my daughters were 8 and 4. We rented the double stroller at the park and believe me, my 8 year old needed it and used it! I really like the park strollers because they are roomy and easy for the kids to get into and out of by themselves. We went to Disneyland last summer and rented the single stroller for my youngest, was was 4 1/2 at the time. Again, it was perfect! The park strollers are worth the cost . . . we travel on a budget, but a few extra dollars was worth it for the convience of not traveling with a stroller. However, if you decide to travel with a stroller and you're flying, you can usually get your stroller onboard without having to pay. You just have to roll up to the gate with one/both of your kids in it. They will then tag it for you and load it with the luggage at no cost. I believe this is still the case even though most airlines have instituted luggage fees, but just double-check with your airline.
A double stroller means only one of you has to push while the other carries stuff, and you only have to find one stroller when you come out of the rides. However, they can be tougher to fold up so you may be happier with 2 single umbrella strollers. Give the kids sun hats and sunglasses on cords, and don't worry too much about the visor.. You should be able to gate-check the stroller at the airport rather than put it through baggage check. Then you'll have it in the airport, which is helpful. If the handles are too short, you can get umbrella handle extensions to clamp on. I absolutely agree about the ribbon - make it really garish so there's no question about it being yours- people get distracted and can take the wrong one by mistake. We also have used colored duct tape to put a big "x" or our last initial on the stroller - any color that clashes with the design of the stroller. Take a backpack for your snacks, drinks, wallet, etc. since you probably won't have storage. You don't want to pay park prices for every little bit of snack or drink the kids want, even if you stop for meals at the park restaurants. Don't carry a purse but be sure your backpack has an inner zippered pocket for your wallet, or use one of those wristlets that holds cash, license, credit card and is very light on your wrist.
we took both strollers for our kids.. but they were a bit younger. We took the big stroller for the little guy... who fell asleep in it several times and we could recline it. Plus, it had the basket underneath for storage & tray for snacks. We brought an umbrella stroller for the 3 1/2 year old. When he walked, it was easy to fold up and put underneath the big stroller. We did have to walk from the parking lot though b/c the big one was too much to fold up and put on the tram. The rental strollers I saw at the park were the hard plastic kind... if that matters to you.
Yes, Disney has strollers for rent, but in my opinion they are way too expensive. We go each year (I have 3 kids, ages 2, 5, and 7), and we usually bring a Graco double stroller. There are lighter, more compact strollers out there, but I like the Graco because of all the storage space (even before we had kids, we tended to bring a lot of things into the parks - ponchos, snacks, bottled water, hand sanitizer, etc.), the canopy, and the comfortable seats. Our 7 year old was 6 1/2 last year when we went and he walked every day except the very last night, when our youngest stayed with my parents and the older two used the double stroller. He would have gladly used the stroller more often, I think, if it had been available to him. :-) This year, for the first time, we're bringing two umbrella strollers (one Maclaren and a cheapie Jeep one), but I'm already wondering how much we're going to miss that Graco ...
I agree with what the last mom said. But there are strollers that the parks rent and they are 30 bucks a day. Those were awesome because they were double side-by-side strollers and they had sun visors on them. I got lucky because as some people were leaving out of the parks, they would hand us their stroller and we didn't have to pay anything. That was more convenient for me since I hate traveling with strollers.
You can rent a stroller at Disney. Unless you are driving you will have to pay to take it on the plane but that might be cheaper than renting in the long run. Disney is long and hard for the little ones. My Grand Daugher who just turned 7 cried every night last week with her legs.

We All Need Vacations
Rent one at Disney. it is expensive but sooooo worth it. they are big, they hold two kids, the kids can get in and out by themselves and you dont have to worry about it, since it isnt yours.!
My daughter was 7 and in a stroller:). I think your smart. I would take 2 light weight umbrella type strollers but not the cheap ones. You want a stroller that is easy to fold up since you will most likely be getting on and off Disney busses, monarails etc. You also want the handle height to be comfortable for you and your husband. I am 5'7" so the cheaper strollers handles are too low for me. It is also nice to have a place for your stuff. My storage is below the seat.
Also, I put red ribbon on our stroller so we could easily locate it since Disney staff members frequently move strollers to a different location from where you left it. ( they are not playing hide and seek but they will move it to be closer to the exit along with a hundred other strollers.)
Have fun!
