Since your little one is about 5 you really need to spend a day at magic kingdom. There is so much for the little ones there. A good place to stop and eat is Cosmic Rays in tomorrow land. They offer a great variety of things. If you have time you have to visit downtown disney. They have a lego setup for the kids to play with. The also have a huge store that sells everything from toys to kitchen stuff. Rainforest cafe is also located in down town disney. My daughter loves that place. Epcot is fun but for a little one there is not alot to do. Some of the countries in Epcot do have activities set up for the little ones though. Animal Kingdom is a must see with a little one. Pass by the tree of life and for sure go on the safari. Mgm is fun too. This is where they have the play house disney show set up. I do believe that it is still there. They usually have an afternoon parade too. Also go over to the boardwalk hotel closer to dusk. Enjoy the espn restaurant and then watch the fireworks. Oh and at Magic kingdom catch the night parade and make sure you see tinkerbell fly from the castle. Ok sorry that I just rattled on but I love Disney world and really if you have the time try to do everything. I hope this helps a little...Have a great time with Mickey....

Hi K.!

We just went in April and going back in October by chance. My kids are 3 3/4 and 19 months...they LOVED the Buzz Lightyear ride and the Monsters Inc Laughing Show (Magic Kingdom). Oh, and the Flying Dumbo ride...gosh, just about everything. If you little one is brave, the Brer Rabbit ride is really cool, but there is a huge water slide at the very end and the boat drops pretty steep, but so much fun!!

In Epcot, we ALL love the Nemo ride and Crush the Turtle comedy show...and they actually had a fun activity in the "Countries" section where kids could make a masquerade mask on a stick and collect tags from each country.

I wasn't crazy about Animal Kingdom the last time we went so we skipped it this time, BUT now they have a LIVE Nemo show that looks fabulous.

I could go on and on, I don't know if you've been there before, but they have a thing called FAST PASS where you reserve a time to see a show or get on a ride (when it's super busy and you don't want to wait)....take advantage of it...it's great. If you have any more specific questions, please drop me an email and I would LOVE to help you out!

Have fun!

M.

Pick up a couple of those spray bottles with the fan on them. Load 'em up with solid ice when you leave your hotel in the am. It's great for the heat when you're standing in line for the rides, extra batteries too. They run a couple of bucks but they'll get you for $8 or $10 in the parks. As I recall, most of the vendors will not charge to refill the ice.

This will sound nuts, but do not miss the smoked turkey legs. You can get them at the magic kingdom, in tomorrowland, under the big plant like looking thing.

We went there in March with a 3 and 1 year old and loved it. Although loved Universal and Sea World too. They were all good.

We took our first family trip to Disney in April with our almost 6 year old and our 2 year old. What saved us was a bag full of activities for the plane, restaurants, and downtime in the condo. We had coloring books, activity books, matchbox cars, a Gameboy, Legos, etc..I would pack those things in the carry-on bag and have a smaller bag to bring with you if you go anywhere that he'll have to wait. We went to the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. We stayed 7 days and still didn't get to everything in just the 2 parks! We also went to Cocoa beach and the kids could have played in the sand all day. It was nice to have days at the pool or beach inbetween the park days. Also, at night you could always head to Downtown Disney or the Boardwalk. Downtown Disney has Legoland where kids can play with Legos, a great ice cream shop and lots of shops. Have a great trip - I'm sure you will love it. I hope I gave you some helpful advice!

Hi! We went in April with our 4.5 yr. old and 2 yr old. They LOVED it! Favorites of our 4.5 yr old were - breakfast with the characters (you make reservations for this, we ate at MGM with the playhouse disney characters, but there is one at Magic Kingdom also), and the barnstormer roller coaster at Magic Kingdom (she rode it 7 times!). There is also a great playground at MGM based on Honey I shrunk the Kids, that both kids really loved. There is also a parade at Magic Kingdom that families can participate in that looked like it was great.

We packed our own snacks each day, that way we saved money and ate a little healthier.

Also, there are days each park is open early for people staying on the Disney grounds - we were advised to avoid that park because it gets more crowded.

Have a great trip!!

We haven't been to Disney World yet, but all of my dad's side of the family lives there. They have been really adamant about telling us that when we do plan a trip to disney, to really keep in mind that safety is important. You should talk about the importance of staying together and communicating what and where you want to go - do this with you son before the trip. I would also consider having your son wear a bracelet, anklet or necklace with his name, and your contact information on it. And also consider having your son dress in an outfit that is rather different from what other children may be wearing so that you can easily spot him. Also consider putting labels on each of his individual clothing with his name and your contact person. Lastly, throughout the day, choose meeting places "in case you can't find each other," encourage holding hands, and just be aware of your surroundings. It is a huge, crowded place, and safety is really important. My cousins unfortunately have too many stories about children being abducted at Disney world. So enjoy your trip - I am sure it will be amazing - just make sure that safety is part of the planning of your trip.
