We are new to having a dishwasher.. do you put your baby bottles in with the dry cycle? We are washing them in the dishwasher, however we are not doing the "dry" function. We are afraid that it might melt the nipples?

What can I do next?

I always put it all in on the top rack and let it rip.
Since you can boil nipples, you can absolutely put them in for the dry cycle.

Use a little basket made for washing the nipples and ring in. We got a couple at the Dollar Tree and some other of those stores when each item is $1. We also bought one or two at Walmart in the baby section or the dish-soap area. They go on the top shelf and close. They keep the stuff off the drying element on the bottom. We used the dishwasher exclusively for washing bottles the whole 4 years we used bottles, between all the grand-kids.

Kids stuff does not have to be sterile. People found that the kids were being too clean, that is one of the things that is showing up with people who have MS. They were kept too clean as children and not allowed to be exposed to germs. They did not get build up their immune system's as children so they developed MS as a result.

Two friends of mine have MS and they both fall exactly into the hypothesis.

Wash the bottles and all the parts in the dishwasher and let them dry in there too. Heat or no heat, not an issue. Just don't dry them by hand.

You can use the dry cycle with bottles and nipples. I don't use the dry cycle to save energy. If you open the door a couple of inches the dishes will air dry. You may have to use a towel to mop up the water from the bottom of glasses if they have an indentation.

My daughter puts the nipples in the silverware basket along with the silverware.

And you do not need the dry cycle for sterilization. The water and detergent sterilize as much as is needed.

I never put the nipples in the dishwasher. It was the only part I washed by hand. I read somewhere once that deposits can be left inside if the nipples and not fully rince out. The rest was put in the d w and I used the dryer cycle. Have a great Christmas!
