Hi,
Sometimes it is necessary to take a straight pin and unclog the little holes in the rotating blades that shoot out water.
They get easily clogged and when I did this, my dishes and glasses were beautiful!
Hi Moms! I need some help. I bought a different dishwasher detergent than I normally use, and my glasses and silverware have never looked so awful!!! Horrible streaks that are not coming off even after washing them by hand and then running them through the dishwasher again with the old gel that I normally use. I was trying to be more "ecco friendly" by buying this new product, but it clearly has not worked for me!
Before I waste money on other products that don't work, does anyone have any advice on what to buy or add to the dishwasher to get these awful, stubborn streaks out?? I would hate to have to replace all of these glasses and silverware!!!
Thanks so much for your help!
Thank-you so much to all the moms who replied. I will definitely try the vinegar trick and call the company. Someone had asked what brand I had used, so I will reveal that it was Palmolive "eco+" which is supposed to be free of phosphates. I had never had a problem like this before, so it just wasn't user friendly for me!
Thanks again ladies!!

Addendum: I just spoke with the company and they are sending me a check to reimburse for the product. They never even asked for a receipt. It does pay to give your feedback!
Hi,

My dishwasher was stained, streeaky and I tried everything to clean it and nothing worked. Then I read to run it with a packet of KoolAid Lemonade. It looks brand new! I would give it a shot run it with the glasses in it (The koolaid small packet of plain Lemonade). I was amazed at the result.
Take a picture of the dishes that were ruined in the dish washer. Contact the company that made the dish washer detergent. I guarentee that they will not only give you the money back on their product but they will replace any dishes damaged. They will also want the product back to see what went wrong. In most cases they also offer you free products. They do all this to avoid a law suit. It's well worth it considering your dishes are no longer what they were.
Some vinegar in the rinse dispenser just might do the trick.
Good luck!

Try running them through the dishwasher with a couple of cups of vinegar. This should do the trick as it worked for me a while back. Good luck!
No promises here but two things you can try to remove the streaks are:
Vinegar, soak overnight in sink of cold water and bottle of vinegar.
Bleach, soak for two hours in sink of hot water and 1 cup bleach.
Good luck
I had the same thing happen to me. I switched back to my normal soap and added Jet Dry to the dispenser. This took all the streaks off and I never had them again.
Call the customer service number on the container and ask them what to do. I would suggest vinegar; but that may not be the solution to this particular product. They'll also send you free coupons for the same or other products. If they don't offer, then ask.
Well, buy new stuff, go to the dollar stuff, believe it or not, beautiful glasses. I hand wash my glasses since I buy cheap gel, but if you want to spend the money on the Cascade 2 in 1 gel packs, they do a beautiful job on everything. Buy the rinse aid as well.
D.,
I just read your message on my update e-mail. I do know of a product called Dish Drops which is eco friendly. They actually just improved the formula so now it is phosphate-free. I sell it through a business team I am a part of. If you would like to try it I can order it for you or I can give you the website for you to order. All the products come with a money back guarantee. You can e-mail me here or at ____@____.com a great day!

Hi D.~
Try washing your glassware with ammonia and hot water. You may want to use rubber gloves, but I promise all this gunk will come off.
add a little vinegar in the wash (1cup or so). it helps keep the mineral deposits off the dishes.
now that the mineral deposits are on there (and the dishwasher), run the dishwasher empty, with no soap. only vinegar (2cups). this will give you a clean slate, and should work better. it's good to do this every once in a awhile anyway...kind of like spring cleaning for your dishwasher =)
i use an "eco-friendly soap" also, and this helps. but it's good for any soap. you won't need those expensive "jet-dry" type of products anymore.
D., I use a product called Diamond Brite. It is sold exclusively by a wellness company that produces only high quality, eco friendly products. They even make their products concentrated so you use less product, which means less packaging to add to our landfills. If you want more info, let me know. :)
Run them again with a cup or two of white vinegar instead of detergent.
Oh, that's a bummer - they should come clean if you soak them in the sink with vinegar; for hard to remove stuff, you can use baking soda, or even take some dishwasher detergent & put it on the really heavily icky spots, let it soak in, then it should come off easily. Good luck -
i have tried several different types of dishwasher detergent and always go back to the FINISH brand detergent w/powerball (not sure if its the exact name) Make sure to get the hard ones and not the gel pacs (gel pacs don't work very well)
hope this helps.
I was having a problem with my dishes and discovered it was because of the heated drying. I do not have that setting now and I have to let the dishes air dry. They get a few spots, but overall its alot better. Check that first.
All good answers. I do the vinegar thing monthly in an empty dishwasher. Dump some in and run it on regular with no dishes. That should get rid of any residue. Maybe plain water and vinegar and soak the streaky ones for a bit depending on what the glasses are made of. Ask the manufacturer of the silverware what action to take. They have heard it all. Also I use baking soda and water in a paste to polish a lot of stuff. That might get the streaks off without scratching.
I don't know if this really works since I've never tried it myself, but I've heard that using white vinegar as the rinse aid (like instead of jet dry) helps with streaks and spots.
try 1 to 2 cups of vinegar on your rinse cycle and it should take the film away.
tell us what brand you tried so WE don't go out and buy it too!!
Glad to hear you got the same response I did with Palmolive as I had the same problem with the Eco+ . I no longer use it needless to say but thathas not stopped me from trying to find something more eco friendly to wash my dishes & as of yet have not found anything.
