Dish Dilemma

My husband cooked dinner a few nights ago. He burnt some food in a glass pan. I have ran it through dishwasher, let it soak, and even tried to scrub by hand. It is my best baking dish so I don't want to toss it until I have tried everything. Any suggestions? Also, my dishes come out with a lot of filmy feeling on them from dishwasher. I use Cascade. What do you use?

What can I do next?

You can mix baking soda and lemon juice into a paste and spread it on. Let it sit over night and then wash.

For future burns always soak in COLD water. The hot water just bakes the food on even harder. I tried it with an egg and it WORKED!

I second trying a Magic Eraser OR an SOS pad.

Keep at it. Fill it with soapy water & put it somewhere you can forget about it for a few days.

As for the film, I was told by our appliance guy only to use powder or packets in the dishwasher--never liquid or gel.

And in the washing machine--ONLY liquid.

There is a cleanser called 'Bar Keepers Friend' works great and doesn't scratch the surfaces as bad.

Soak overnight in dishsoap/water mixture.

Scrub with an SOS pad the next day.

Baking soda soak and then after it has sat for a good while (overnight is good) pour vinegar on it... it will bubble like made but help.

Baking soda works wonders on just about any kind of cookware... I use it on glass pans all the time... it is not abrasive in that it will scratch the cookware, but it gets off those stubborn stains really nicely!

Just sprinkle some in a wet pan, and scrub with your damp dishcloth. It is amazing what it will get off!

Magic Eraser is amazing! Used it last night on my stuff and it came out great. And they are super cheap.

I heard you can soak the dish with a dryer sheet and water and it will loosen the baked on junk. Personally, I let it soak in hot water and soap, sometimes overnight if necessary, and then scrub with a scrubbie sponge or an SOS pad... SOS works...

Brillo pad will remove it after a good soak, or steel wool-type scrubber. I used to use cascade, but I took the Finish challenge, LOL..and was shocked that it actually did work and smell better.

Baking soda is amazing for most burnt on foods. As for the film, do you have a water softener? It could be hard water. Also try jet dry. A friend of mine was told not to use it by a repairman, but everyone else I spoke with swore by it. I finally tried it and now use it constantly. I no longer have any film on my glassware. And my detergent alternates between Cascade and Finish--whichever I have coupons for!
