Can you ask for Oraped? It's the chewable version and my son takes it with no issues. He throws up the liquid because it tastes so bad.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get my 2 yo to take his medicine? My youngest has chronic breathing problems & gets sick a lot. He had a constant cough & wheeze until he was 2 (he'll be 3 in Dec.), has been hospitalized several times, & has had Croup at least a dozen times. However, I guess, due to his age, he's learned how to spit his medicine out. He's always been exceptionally good at taking meds but now, all of a sudden, it's impossible for me to get it down him. He's got Croup again right now & I don't think he swallowed any of his med this morning. Mind you, I've always "tasted" my kids meds to let them know that I know it's yucky and PREDNASOLONE is the most disgusting medicine I've ever tasted & the taste stays in the mouth forever...we've tried mixing it with just about everything & nothing works. Any ideas? Due to his history, it's extremely important to get him treated ASAP before he gets worse. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated!

I have no idea if this would work, but have you tried the "jedi mind trick?
tee hee..basically, after you taste it, say it's YUMMY! instead of yucky. Your opinion matters a lot.
hope it helps. Oh, and I've had that med and beware it is a steroid and will affect behavior. :*
I think that was one that's not a choice of flavors, right? flavors make a difference. Mine HATES orange flavoring but loves strawberry.
Good luck!
My doc told me to give them a few M&Ms after yuckie meds. It seems to help my kiddos take anything. I know it's not the healthiest, but if it gets them to take it, I'll do it. I think the chocolate takes away the after taste too.
Hope that helps.

Have you tried a reward system? If he takes his meds then he will get a treat and a star. Once he gets 10 stars he can go to the store and buy a toy or buy the toy and sit it on the counter and once he gets all his stars, he can have it. I don't know how well it will work since I know the meds taste bad but it's worth a shot. If he's big enough for gum, maybe he can have a piece of gum right after he takes it.
