Discolored Handles on Refrigerator

I have a white GE side by side refrigerator that is 6 years old. I have noticed recently that the handles and the plastic area around the ice maker are discolored, a yellowish color now. Has anyone had this problem and if so, what did you do about it? I called GE and the lady I spoke with told me that she has had occasional calls pertaining to this same problem. She said it if from wear. They do have replacement handles for purchase, but nothing is available for arround the ice maker. Very disappointed. Any suggestions would be helpful. She told me to use the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Already tried this and didn't do a thing for it. Thanks.

What can I do next?

I'd say who cares about around the ice maker...as long as it's clean, I'd feel okay about it. After all, it isn't open to the public eye. :)

The handles, however...I have the same issue with the same fridge. I use comet. I use comet for everything, and it seems to work for everything. Rub it in good with a rag and let it set for 15-20 minutes, then rinse. Repeat. :)

I've been professionally cleaning houses now for almost 20 years. The quickest and easiest way to get the dirt out of those little smudge-proof grooves, is scrubbing bubbles. Spray it on, let it sit for about 10 minutes, then wipe it off. If it's really stubborn, repeat the application and use a green scotch guard scrubber, very lightly. I once cleaned a white fridge that looked brown. By the time I was done, it looked brand new. Good luck

Try a foam-style cleaner to get into the grooves. We use a product at home called "Magic" made by ProChem but the downside is you have buy it by the case online.

My folks have that problem with their white fridge. I use lysol bleach on it, I spray it on (rag under so it doesn't drip) make sure it is everywhere and let is sit for a few and wipe it off. I do it on the panel of the stove too b/c it does the same thing.

Oxiclean or Rosenthal's Cleaner which you'd need to get from a hardware store.

I soak the whole area with straight distilled white vinegar using a spray bottle and leave it overnight. Wipe it in the morning, use a knife for scratching out grooves.
