Hi Moms,

Does anyone have "Direct Buy" call them? They have been calling me for the past year non-stop. They have called on many Sunday evenings as late as 8 or 10pm!!! They just called again. I tell them over and over to stop calling me! Each time they call it is a different number and then I try to call back and teh number has been disconnected or they answer. I have told them over 200 times or more not to call me and to place me on the do not call list. They usually hang up during the call too! It is really ticking me off.

I wanted to know if anyone else has calls from this company? I know I did NOT sign up on their web-site or anything!!!!!

Thanks!

What can I do next?

Go to the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) website and report them.
I have the same problem with the 'fix your interest rate", for credit cards. I don't have a credit card. I asked them to remove me from their list and they laughed and said no.

When they call, act friendly.
Ask to speak with a manager.
Try to get the managers name.
Ask to be removed from the dialing list/database immediately.
Some may try to tell you it will take 30-90 days for your number to be removed.
Then them the Virginia Attorney General says this is illegal and you must be removed immediately.
After getting as much info as you can, file a complaint - every time - at the Do Not Call site.

https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck...

The Do Not Call Registry enforcement seems to be a bit lax right now.
There are a few telemarketer call centers which seem to be ignoring it for a time.

As a last resort, I may get a device which totally plays gate keeper to my land line phone.
It will let me program which calls get through and will automatically hang up on everything else.

Have you signed up on the do not call list? It's not the most effective thing in the world, but if you have signed up and you've never done business with them or have asked them to stop calling, you can report them each and every time they call. Some companies continue to violate the dnc list, but it's worth a try.

Take a couple of weeks and write down everytime they call - date/time/who you speak with if possible and that you asked to be removed from their database. Then file a complaint using that info with the Do Not call website, the Better Business Bureau and the State Corporation Commission. I know for a fact that when a business gets a complaint via the SCC, the President of the company has to respond within 30 days (my neighbor just retired from there)!

Oh, 1 more idea I heard from someone. Hand the phone over to your little kiddo. They LOVE talking to people on the phone. Just make sure they don't hand the phone to you. The person on the line starts out saying, "Can you get Mommy on the phone?" but then always get irritated and give up!

When the next call of any of this type comes in, just pick up the phone - but do NOT say a word! Hold the phone out and just wait for it to disconnect on their end! These darn calls also come in on my cell and I started doing that - just connect to the call but not say one word (they might get some background noise but nothing else) ... loving it - and I'll probably jinx myself, but it has cut down on these calls coming in!!

I haven't had calls from Direct Buy, but from Direct TV.

I have not been a customer since I moved out of state last year (already paid the final bill). Every other call is for the former person who had my telephone number. The calls started at 8:43am and the latest calls were between 4-5:30p. Just last month, I received 13 calls from them.

With the country's largest threat being Identity Theft and surpassing drug trafficking, is it possible that you are a victim of Identity theft and don't know it?

If you want a comparison list of reputable IDT Protection companies that handle these situations, I can email it you. I use Identity Theft Shield and LegalShield. I have IDT protection through my bank, but they don't really do anything but let me know if someone bought a boat and sailed to Greece on my dime...lol. The IDT Shield monitors my credit reports daily and restored a few things that were on my report that were not supposed to be there. I didn't have to take off work or make any additional phone calls to numerous companies because they do it for me. The attorneys through my LegalShield plan made a few phone calls and Direct TV and a couple other companies stopped calling me.

Let me know if you want the information,
Nanc
