Hello again mamas!!!
I am in need of some advice! I am training for a half marathon and am really needing to be eating better! I need to eat foods that give me more energy and I also need to lean up a little bit! (My son just turned a year old, and I am finishing up weaning him, so there is some stubborn fat that needs to come off!). Has anyone tried the diet solution plan with success? I don't want to spend the money on something that may not work for me! I HATE diets and all things dieting and really just eat what I want, adding in all things healthy whenever I can. This diet plan really looks like it would work for me, but I am just needing to hear from people that have done it! Thanks for all your advice!

What can I do next?

I am not familiar with that plan. The other post mentioned eating only 1200. If that is what the plan calls for and you are training for a half marathon, you will definitely be burning muscle as well as fat and messing up your metabolism. If you clean up the eating you should lose weight training for the run.
Otherwise if the plan will work for you go for it. The information on the website looked ok.
As a personal trainer, I use another plan developed by sports nutritionists. You can let me know if you want info on it.

About the 1200 calories, it TOTALLY depends on your height and your BMI and what you want your BMI to be. I am only 5'2" and for me 1200-1500 is my "ideal caloric intake" according to sparkpeople and all other literature I have found about it. So make sure you go by your height and BMI to figure out caloric intake. Usually 1500 for a short, petite woman is more than enough calories...it's just that most of us are used to eating way more than that because we eat so much junk (at least that is my problem!) I use sparkpeople.com to calculate my caloric intake and then I just jot down my measurements and stuff once a month on my calendar and what exercises I'm doing. It has helped but I have to be very diligent and it's NOT easy. I have done it since Feb. 1 and have already slacked two weeks here and there and that's not good! If you have a friend you could do this with, that would really help!! Good luck, it's soooo hard but so worth it!

I enjoy drinking protein shakes and just minding my calories. My doctor said stay at 1200 calories to lose weight, its not easy but it's been working. The Atkins portein shakes are 15 grams of protein and really make you feel full. I have heard that people that do gastric bypass use these same shakes before and after surgery to make sure they are getting enough protein without high sugars. I have a hard time following a diet too for to long, and I dont feel it trains me to eat what is right or better for me. I have suggested them to other friends and they have seemed to like them too. Your body burns fat before protein so if your getting enough protein then your body will naturally burn the fat before the protein and protein gives you energy. Win Win!

1200 calories is considered a medically restricted diet and should ONLY be done under the direct supervision of a doctor. It's very dangerous and basically done only with extreme cases. I'd suggest you check out marathon training websites first. I've run 2 half marathons and 1 full and I can tell you, you will need to eat. I'd suggest greek yogurt. You can put it in smoothies or I just eat it with organic low sugar granola and fruit. It's really high in protein. Also I'd suggest Gillian McKeith's website as a great nutrition assist

Sparkpeople is fantastic -- it's 100% free. It helps you plan meals, track your exercize. It gives you work out ideas, free work out videos, support groups, etc.

I've never lost all my weight until completely weaned. Give that a try first. Next, I'd say cut down or out on dairy. Also, I've had someone tell me don't eat anything that isn't a food. For this time, avoid dressings that aren't natural oils and juices, sandwich spreads, cool whip, you get it. I wish you the best!!
