Did I Jinx/curse Myself? My 9 Yr. Old Son Just Wet the Bed for the First Time.

Just the other morning, my son came into our bathroom to use the toilet. He peed for what seemed like longer than I have ever heard. I turned to my husband, and said, "Well, we're just lucky that he wakes up to use the toilet and doesn't wet the bed." I'm now regretting ever saying this. On Saturday morning, my 9 yr old son said that he'd outgrown his Lightning McQueen bedding, and he wanted something more grown up. I got him all new bedding and proceeded to change his top bunk. If you've ever changed bedding on a top bunk, you know what a pain this is, and you'd much rather clean toilets by comparison. So, after all this, my son wakes up at 2:30am this morning, and comes into our room to say that his underwear is wet. We check his underwear and bed, and it's very wet, and we've confirmed it's NOT a wet dream. He was toilet trained at a reasonably young age, and has never had a bed wetting accident before, so we're extremely puzzled by this. Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Not sure if it matters, but in the last week, his doctor prescribed prednisone (10mg tablets twice a day for 7 days, and we're on day 6) for exercise induced asthma. We'll call the doctor tomorrow, but wanted to see if any moms out there have any similar experiences. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Prednisone makes you pee A LOT! I'd be fairly certain that is the culprit.

Oh yeah, the medicine can cause that.

And, so can dreaming about needing to go to the bathroom. As a grown woman, I've done that! LOL! I'd rather dream about being late for a test or running for the school bus than dream that I need to pee.

Anyway, get a waterproof pad and lay it over his sheet so that you only have to wash the pad while he's on this medication. As they say, "This too shall pass...".

It's the med. it can do all kinds of things. It will stay in his bod for a while after taking this so keep up precautions for another week.

My first thought was, "He's ill with something." Then I read on and I agree with the others, it's the probably the meds. Bed-wetting doesn't just start out of the blue at that age unless there is something wrong.

It's probably the meds, but I do remember wetting the bed one time at your son's age because I was too lazy to get out of bed and I figured it would dry by morning. Wrong. After laying in the wet spot for an hour, I woke up my mom to change the bed.

Lol.

Poor kid. As another mom posted, I too have had little accidents while dreaming about peeing. For whatever reason, I dream about bathrooms and toilets a lot. Weird I know. Hopefully your son didn't get too upset by it, because it really can happen to anyone. Let him know that.
