Diary of a Whimpy Kid & Dragonbreath. What Else?

I'm looking for book suggestions for my son. He absolutely LOVES the two book series in the subject line, and does NOT care much for mysteries or complicated plot lines (short attn span). Anyone else's boy/girl like these? If so, what else does he/she like? Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone! What great selections! I have a 6 year old advanced reader and a 10 year old 'not-quite-so-advanced' reader that together I think will enjoy many of these. I've added them to my Amazon Wish Lists so that I don't forget, and I think we'll have to hit the library too.

my son read all those wimpy kid books and the big nate books like 3 times each, to the point where i was annoyed he wasnt branching out. he loves them. i have tried to get him to read so many other things, sometimes he will, but he goes back to those. anyway, now he is reading the original charlie and the chocolate factory and has not put it down. had it at the dinner table! and he asked me to get him junie b jones, i think, someone told him they were really funny. he is 8. he likes science-y books too, lots of animal things and bugs and stuff like that, really good books with beautiful pictures and lots of obscure cool information. sounds like your son might like those? lots of info in short chunks, you know? i think thats one of the things that make those books so comfortable for michael...if your son is into the same kind of stuff, i bet he would like a lot of these. my son likes magic too. im gonna get him some hardy boys books, i just bought the 1st 2 nancy drew books at a garage sale, signed from the 70s from some mom to her daughter, just like my mom did. i cant wait for my kids to read them :) anyway, yeah, he has as many non-fiction as fiction, he loves those.... im gonna try dragonbreath, i look forward to reading your other responses...

My daughter really liked the Captain Underpants books, and Franny K. Stein books. They aren't too much in the way of plot, and they're fairly short, so they shouldn't strain his attention span too much. She also really liked the Goosebumps books, but it sounds like those might be too involved?
Good luck!

Big Nate is similar to Wimpy Kid. I think there are 3 books in the series now.

Try The Zak Files. My son loved those when he was younger (He still gets them out and re-reads them).
