Arg! Am I completely over-expecting things from my baby's diapers? She is four months old and sleeps through the night. But, this morning, for the second time, her diaper leaked. Her pants were soaked all on one side and her shirt was damp and her sheets were damp. How long are diapers supposed to last at night? How is a baby supposed to sleep for hours and hours at night if their diaper can't hold up? Pardon me if I sound ignorant. I am a first time mom and really happy with my little girl's sleep progress. Please help!

What can I do next?

It get worse when they start getting older and peeing more. My advice is change her right when you are going to sleep if she's wet. Try the goodnights but they don't fit small babies, they are made for like 35 to 40 pounds. My little girl only weights 22 pounds at 2y/o so I'm at a loss. I have also tried putting on of those plastic panty type thing on her on top of her diaper too no avail it made a bigger mess. So now I just try to limit her milk intake when it comes down to bedtime and I also just have one of those waterproof bed liner that have a soft top part and just a warm blanket. She did have her beautiful bed spead and sheets but I'm not washing that almost everyday. I with you on the diapers. HeHe I've been tempted to see what would happen if I put two diapers on. One other suggest I could give you is too change her diaper size up one for the night. We buy sizes 3 for day and 4 for night. The huggies supreme work too. Hpe this helps,
L.

ps consider yourself lucky my daughter didn't start sleeping thru the night until she was almost two !

Well it depends on the diaper you use. I kinow most people thst generic is just as good as name brand but they are not. I have tried both and generic work good they just stop working in half the timea name brand diaper does. I used the huggies supreme and papmers swaddlers. Then when your little one starts moving more and crawling around try pampers cruisers. Also you might want to try and put on a clean diaper as close to bed time as possible or if you feed during the night change it then. I hope all works out for you and congrats on the new baby.

We went through several brands of diapers before we found one that could hold up. We used Huggies, they have an overnite brand, but I believe it starts at size 4, I haven't seen any smaller than this. You might just start using another diaper brand. Or, if your like me, you check on your child 100 times a night. If she is a heavy sleeper, you might be able to change her in her sleep. I've done this a few times.

I have three kids. The last one is 4 months old. If the diaper leaks than it is a big sign to move up one size in diapers. Even if they fit a little big at first, they won't leak and you can sleep through the night without worrying about the baby being wet. Good luck!
