Hello mommies,
My two year old has started taking off her diaper in her crib in the morning. I know that lots of kids do it! I've heard horror stories about "messes"! I need some creative ideas on how to deal with this before we have a poopey incident!! I'm thinking duct tape over the velcro strips on the diaper? Ideas?

What can I do next?

Backwards diaper, onsie, one piece sleep suit backwards (I know, too hot for summer), forget the pj's and do overall shorts instead.

Put it on backwards? Tape would also work. Onesie with snaps at the crotch OVER the diaper?

Get onesies and put them on her. If she figures out the snaps, put it on backwards.

Start potty training! Why not? It's got to be the same amount of mess a missing diaper would make.
We're doing potty training boot camp. 2 weeks. All out.
Good luck!

You could try duct tape. What the heck. Usually you put pjs on backwards.
Of course it is summer time so that probably won't work. Right now I am
drawing a blank. Sorry.

Around the age of 2 my daughter also took her diaper off in the crib and nothing seemed to stop her. Finally, after many nights of changing her bedding my sister suggested I put her to sleep in a bathing suit. It worked like a charm - I used the bathing suit at night for two to three weeks and when I stopped putting it on at night she never went back to taking it off again!

My son started doing this when he was a about 2 and a half. I interpreted that it meant that he was ready to potty train. And you know what, he was. If she takes it off, start letting her around the house with no diapee and no pants, put the potty in the living room where all the toys are and then just direct her to it when she needs to go. My son is now a month away from his third birthday and we are done with diapees and we even got rid of the potty 2 weeks ago, he just uses the regular toilet.
Good Luck!

My daughter went through this too - we put her in a onesie. She couldn't figure out how to open the poppers underneath so moved on to something new!

My 18 month old is starting to do this too but only if left in just a diaper. If she has a onsie or pants on she will not try and get the diaper off. Any one piece clothing should help. Children's Place (clothing store) has feetie pjs made out of t shirt fabric that are perfect for spirng/fall/when AC is on. They were even on sale last week. I have also seen pjs that the top and bottom snap together (made by Caters I think).

My son did this for a long time also. Onsies never worked for us and when its summer time they dont wear flannel jamies to put on backwards. We just used tape. However we couldnt just tape the velcro parts because he could get that off easily. We had to tape from front to back so he couln't pick at it. He did eventually grow out of it, but that is the only thing that worked for us. Good luck!!

Mine can get one side undone.....I am just waiting for her to un-do the other side and run around peeing on the floor. But to prevent her from taking it off, I got her big girl panties in the smallest size to put over the diaper. As of right now she can't figure out how to get the diaper off with the panties on her. If this doesn't continue to work, my boyfriend wants to duct tape the diaper. =)

Duct tape worked for us! I found it on a Berkeley parenting site of all places :). I wound it round several times, eventually--after at least a week like this I think-- he got the message and all went back to normal. good luck!
