The reason children revert back to diapers is because parents make them an option. The key to potty training is to be consistent. Once you begin potty training, you must stick with it each and every day until the child learns how to use the toilet. Let him run around naked. Do not force the diaper because ultimately what you are doing is confusing him. He's showing an interest but you are not enforcing it. Let him go without a diaper throughout the day and put him on the toilet every hour. Give hugs, claps, cheering, lots of praise when he does something in the toilet. A special treat that he will associate with going on the toilet is also very important. Gerber makes these tasty but healthy gummy fruit snacks. Give him one treat (not one bag) every time he does something on the toilet. It's not too early, nor is it ever too early. I firmly believe in earlier the better. My youngest is 2 1/2 and potty trained during the day and night. You can do this, you just need to be consistent. Use a diaper for naps, bedtime and when you have to go out. In fact, once he is actively using the toilet, switch to pull-ups.
