P.K.
I love the idea. With a prize like that, heck, I would be happy to bring diapers. Better than those dumb games.
I've been invited to two baby showers this month that feature diaper raffles. For every pack of diapers you bring, you get a raffle ticket and a chance to win prizes. At the last shower I went to, the grand prize was a pair of White Sox tickets.
I know everybody needs diapers, but this just seems weird to me. Is this the norm nowadays?

I don't know, I think it's kind of fun!
My cousin had that at her shower, and I won the raffle!!! I never win anything, so I enjoyed it :) I don't think it's weird, I think it just makes a ho-hum gift like diapers, more interesting.
The moms-to-be want diapers :)
My pastor's wife wanted no shower after baby #2, but some insisted. So her condition was that gifts be diapers or Target (her one-stop shopping choice) gift cards only, so she could buy what she needed.
The raffle is a fun and creative idea, and someone is spending some money on prizes. Not sure if it's the "norm" now, but I like it.
I think it's just the newest fad when it comes to baby showers. Kind of like everyone seems to be doing candy tables and sand unity ceremonies at weddings.
I have never heard of this but I also find it fun and cute. I mean if the mom to be really needs diapers its a great way to buy a useful gift and gamble a little at the same time! ;) Haha!
This was done for me at my baby shower and it was GREAT!! I had diapers for a year. Everybody brought different sizes and brands. Some I had to return, diapers are not as hard as you'd think to return. This is a great idea and really helps out the parents to be.
I hear a lot of people that I work with complain about this, but what I like is that its optional. If you don't want to bring them then don't.
We did this for daughter's shower and she ended up with a nice assortment of diapers that lasted her for a very long time.
It works out really well when some people bring larger sizes and not just
newborn although I think she was able to exchange sizes at babies r us.
We did about 4 raffle prizes (basket of bath and body works things and
gift cards).
It is totally optional so if you are not crazy about the idea I wouldn't feel pressured to do it.
We had people attend that didn't bring diapers.
