Diaper Houdini

Hi everyone,
My just turned two year old niece has been ripping her diaper off during nap times and bedtimes and wanted to know if anyone has any suggestions to keep it on. My sister-in-law has gone as far as using duct tape to try and keep it on. She is at her last straw and I am my nieces daycare and would love to not have to change sheets and clothes everyday after her nap. Any suggestions would be helpful.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you everyone for the advice. I let my sister-in-law read all of the comments and she is letting her use her little potty during the day but for now she just likes to play with it. She is going to try putting on the pjs backward to see how that works. Thanks again

This is what I did with ALL 5 of my kids...Do you know those PJ's with the feet and zippers? I always put those on backwards. They stayed dressed! My youngest (she is 7 1/2) would strip in the store, so I started taking her in her PJ's (up until 3 1/2 yrs. of age)...btw, she still doesn't like to wear that many clothes. Hope this helps a little!

My daughter did the same thing! I resolved the issue by buying her 'big girl undies' and putting them on OVER the diaper since she obviously wasn't ready to stay DRY during nap and at night. Hope that helps.

C., I had the same problem with both my girls and what I did was buy some one piece zipper blanket sleepers and pinned the zipper to the sleeper at nap and bedtime. I use the safety pins with the plastic coverings for cloth diapers. It prevents them from being able to unzip and take their clothing off and especially their diaper. I also used some one piece outfits that they couldn't get off as well. After about two weeks they stopped with the diaper mess! Hope this helps!

My Son is the same way. I actually just let him go nakey as much as he wants to During the day, and insist on diapers for naps and bedtimes. It's sort of a compromise of sorts.

Your neice may be saying that she's ready for Potty Seat time too. Try putting her on the potty before and after naps.

dont forget about those waterproof bed liners they put in the childs crib when they're infants... you can use them under her while she sleeps they're not all plastic and crinkley it can help with the sheet situation
