I was just wondering if there were other mommies whose baby (mine is 7 months old) potties all over the place at night time. I have gone so far as to put a #3 on and then a #4 on top of that and that didnt work so I put breast pads in the 2 diapers but that didnt work either. So, I am just wondering if there is anything I can do to prevent this problem other than changing him in the middle of the night after he eats because if I do that he will be up for at least 2 hours. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Use Huggies night time diapers. They are great. Target does not carry them anymore. I know you can get them at CVS and Tom Thumb. Possibly other places.

My son did and does this as well. At that age it wasn't he diaper but how he was peeing out. The diaper wasn't full it just found a way out (a boy thing for sure). He may have too big of a diaper not too small. He will mostly our grow this and then it will become a full diaper thing. My son is a milkaholic and has one to two sippy cups a night (I am working on this one Moms). I change his diaper when he gets his milk cup and he goes back to sleep. I used to use Pampers Cruisers to help with the spilling problem and after he turned 2 I started using Luvs to help with the full problem.

Good luck,

We had the same problem with my first son. Huggies didn't even work. We switched to Pampers and it held him all night. I would however make sure I put a dry diaper on him b/4 his last feeding. Also, two other things that work...if he is sleeping and you do need to change him in the middle of the night, don't turn on the light (use the light from another room), don't use a wipe-if it's just pee, and if he is awake or wakes up during the change, don't talk to him. Your voice stimulates him. Just give smiles, eye contact and he should be able to go back to sleep faster. Also, use a crib mattress pad under his sheet. The ones that absorb 7x the liquid. This pulls the wetness away from him, so he may not wake up from the wetness. We used this technique during for potty training b/c the pullups weren't so asorbent.

Good Luck!

You may be already doing this, but as soon as my baby woke up to feed, I changed her diaper first (even while she was crying to feed), so that once I fed her and she dropped off to sleep, I wouldn't have to wake her again. That order seems to work well, but I did EVERY time she awoke to feed. So, if it was once, then I'd change her once and if twice or 3 times, then the same each time.

I'm assuming when you note "potties all over the place" that you are referring to a major wet diaper (urine) that leaks, right? If so, then the above worked for me...but I did change her during the night. Obviously, when they are older, you just stop the beverages earlier in the evening, but at the infant stage, they have to eat/drink around the clock and especially in this Texas heat, they need to stay hydrated.

Hope some of this input helps. Many Blessings - L.

I would always change my baby's diaper before the middle of the night feeding. He would be mad having to wait, but then he would go back to sleep more quickly after nursing.

In regards to the leaking, you might try a different brand of diaper. It seems that different diapers are better at different stages. I know whenever we used store brand or generic brand diapers, those leaked a lot at night or during nap time but were fine for awake time during the day. So we would use Pampers or Huggies before nap and at night and the cheaper ones the rest of the time. The only diaper I've ever used that did not leak at least once was the Kirkland brand diapers from Costco. Out of 2 huge boxes of diapers (over 300 diapers), the only defect was one of the tabs came off of 1 diaper when my husband was changing my son once. I know usually out of a package of any other brand of diaper (Huggies, Pampers, store brand, etc.) there's been at least one tab that comes off in addition to the leaking factor. If you have access to the Kirkland diapers, give them a try. We've been very impressed with them. If those are the ones you are using now and are still having the leaking problems, then I would say just keep trying different brands until you find one that works for your baby. That's what we did. I can't tell you how many times I've changed sheets during the middle of the night! Sheesh!! Good luck! :-)

I have twin boys and they both had this issue. I used only Huggies from day one and still do. I think they work best. I finally had a friend tell me about the most amazing and easiest trick ever! KOTEX. CHEAP Walmart brand KOTEX (or whatever you have handy-nothing with fragrance though for obvious skin irritation reasons). Place it inside the waist band sticking it to the front part of the diaper. Babies who are tummy sleepers (mine were) often get into the fetal position at night which leaves a gap in the top of the waist in the front of the diaper. The KOTEX takes up the extra space and absorbs the urine instead of their pj's or sheets. My kids wore Kotex in their diapers for several months at night until they started rolling all over the bed and the night time wetting slowed down. Seems like they were about 6 or 7 months when it started though. They are 2 now. Good luck...let me know if this trick works for you.
