Hi J.,

She may as Type 2 Diabetes is becoming an epidemic, especially in children. Many feel that it is caused by the abundance of chemicals, pollutants and toxic substances in our environment. Here is a link you may find helpful:

I am a Type 1 Diabetic (since 13 years old), and I would definitely recommend getting your daughter checked ASAP, just to be on the safe side. If it was summer time, and she was outside playing a lot, I wouldn't be so worried about it, but with the cooler temps, it's not as normal to drink a lot of fluids. Also, is your daughter also eating a lot more than usual (and losing weight, too)? And is she acting lethargic or more fatigued than usual? These are also signs of diabetes.

Blessings!

My little guy was diagnosed Type 1 at 10 months, and he was in full DKA at that time. It's very dangerous and he was in the ER for 2 days. It came as a total surprise. So like everyone else is saying, if you are uncertain but maybe seeing signs, get her to the doc today.

My daughter was diagnosed with Type I diabetes when she was 2. Her symptoms included: very, very frequent urination, extreme thirst, weight loss-she was tiny to begin with, stomacha aches and at the end vomiting and manic behavior. When I say exteme thrist, I mean she was getting up at night to ask for water and drinking her bath water. She also wet through her diapers very quickly--within an hour. I had to change her sheets twice a night at the end.( we have no diabetes in our family-so she was very sick at diagnosis.

You can buy ketosticks at the drug store and check for sugar in her urine. You can also test her blood with a family members meter--just be sure to change the lancet.

I am hoping for the best for you!

My 4 y/o grandson was diagnosed about a year ago. He was drinking a lot and also going to the bathroom a lot too. He also was really, really big for his age.

I have type 2 diabetes and many people in my family have it. My son is 2 1/2 and is very big. He drinks a lot and I too was concerned hearing that was a symptom. I have continually asked his doctor if he could have it. They do a simple blood prick test in the office to find out (or at least that's what they did with my son). It showed he doesn't. This has curtailed my fears for the time being.
