This is really just some encouragement for you.... My son had extreme (oozing) eczema for the first 7 months. He did outgrow it, little by little, and now, at age 2, only has the tiniest little rough patch on his leg. I know it's very disheartening to see your little guy looking like he does, but hang in there. For my son's face, we used 1/2% or 1% hydrocortison cream and it worked great. For his body, we used a prescription lotion that was great, but really strong. With any steroid cream (even hydrocortisone), I was told to only use it for 10 day stretches, and then 10 days off. Constant use can actually thin the skin and cause a type of scarring if you're not careful. More than anything, just moisturize the heck out of him. Aquaphor is great, if you're not already using it. (You've probably tried it all.) And good luck with the dermatologist!
